

Nellie Margaret Johnston went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2011. She was born in Scarborough, Maine on April 23, 1918 to parents Elver Avon Cyrus Harmon and Delona Waldron Harmon. Nellie later moved to the Washington, DC area where she met her husband of 60 years, Rev. James Clayton Johnston. A lady ahead of her time, known for her quiet nature, but sharp sense of humor, she had a love for cooking and was known for her beautiful knitting. Nellie was a devoted pastor’s wife for nearly 20 years and was a secretary at Baptist Bible Institute, in Graceville, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Nellie is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Johnston. She is survived by her husband, Rev. James Johnston; daughter, Lois Powers and her husband Richard; grandchildren: Jon Register and his wife Ashley, Chris Register and Katie Powers; 4 great grandsons; sister, Delona Conkright and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to invite friends for visitation on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a funeral at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to County Line Baptist Church, in care of Mrs. Joette Williams, 1504 County Road 107 LaFayette, AL 36862.
