Nestor Rodenas Santos, of Randolph, NJ and Houston, TX, transitioned to heaven on November 19, 2023, at HCA Healthcare West in Houston, TX. He passed away quickly from complications of a stroke. Until the very end, he faced life with joy and laughter over his 77 years. According to his wife, Nikki, he danced with all the staff and residents at his nursing home’s Thanksgiving party just nights prior to his passing.
Nestor, fondly known as Tito Nestor, Netty, and Koy, was born to Maria and Jose Santos, on June 28, 1946, in Manila, Philippines. Like many Filipinos in the early 70s, Nestor came to New Jersey to pursue the American Dream. A lover of the Cha Cha, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, Nestor was known as the life of the party–big or small. Many were drawn to his zest for life and never-ending joke-telling. A passionate basketball player and fan (go Knicks!), he played basketball during college at San Juan de Letran University. In America, he participated in local Filipino leagues, coached teens and attended local high school games (including his son’s and daughter’s). He was an active member in the Filipino Christian community in Northern New Jersey.
Nestor is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nicasia; his four children, Jonas, Jennifer, Nestor II, and Netysha; as well as his six beloved grandchildren: Erin, Charlotte, Meems, Elise, Cole and Andrew.
A visitation for Nestor will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
