Nometta Linyear Lawson

Nometta Linyear Lawson was born on October 21,1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Ethel (Tutt) Herbert and Jesse Linyear. She attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary, Andrew J. Bell Junior High and Joseph S. Clark High School and graduated in 1969. She was employed at the Marriott Hotel, Methodist and Charity Hospitals before working for the State of Louisiana where she retired in 2008. She met her future husband in high school and they were reunited in 1979. They married in 1981 and this union brought forth a son. She also worked as an election poll worker for the last 12 years. She departed this earth on May 24, 2025 in Houston, Texas.

Nometta was preceeded in death by her mother, Ethel (Tutt) Herbert, her father, Jesse Linyear; her sister, Patricia Herbert; her mother-in-law, Gloria Brown; aunts, Jeanne Lecesne and Esther Herbert; uncles, Joseph and Lloyd Herbert; nieces, Darnell Gordon and Keanne Herbert; brother-in-laws, Albert Bemiss Sr and Maurice Bowie; cousins, Corey and Joan Griffin, Lois and Roger Herbert.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry Lawson Sr; her son, Larry Lawson Jr; grandchildren, La’nya Lawson and Braylon Lawson; sisters, Janet Bemiss, Linda Bowie, and Denise Herbert; brother, Dennis Herbert (Ingrid); brother-in-law, Joseph Lawson Jr; nieces, D’lon Herbert (Tenisha), Kaila and Courtlyn Herbert, Kristen Johnson, Kirsten Gordon, and Dominique Carr; nephews, Albert Bemiss Jr (Tasha), Ernest Johnson, Dennis Herbert Jr (Shira), Terrell (Essie), Shane, Kyle and Kailen Herbert; cousins, Lillian, Keith and Jamie Johnson (Shantrell), Randy and Percill Griffin (Sabrina), Denley Herbert (Donna), Carmen, Elwin, Elvin, Rene and Ronald Herbert (Leani), and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Nometta will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A reception will follow on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
