On Thursday, May 4, 2023, Rabelle Winston King affectionately referred to as “Annie” by her granddaughter, left this world to meet her heavenly father as well as several loving family members who preceded her in death: her father, John Stephen Winston, mother, Opal Hawes Winston, brother, John Stephen Winston Jr, sister, Betty Marie Cook, her loving husband, Wesley M. King, as well as her youngest son, Andrew Winston King.
Rabelle was born on October 8, 1936. She was a native Houstonian who graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Rabelle was a talented singer with a passion for music. In 1953, she sang in the 1,000 voice high school chorus which performed with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Rabelle also went on to sing with the Houston Chorale in the concerts they performed with the Houston Symphony throughout the 1960s.
Rabelle was married to Wesley M. King for forty-four years and they shared two sons, William Martin King and Andrew Winston King, with whom they adored. While raising their children, Rabelle attended Alvin Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing. Rabelle continued her education and served as an intensive care nurse at Southeast Memorial Hospital and as a charter member of the Pearland Emergency Medical Services.
Rabelle not only had a servant’s heart, but a love for animals, history, reading, playing cards with friends, and of course, the Astros. Rabelle adored her time raising horses on her property in Lexington, Texas, as well as raising and showing Weimaraner dogs in various competitions throughout the Southwest.
Please join in this celebration of Rabelle’s life with her surviving family members: son, William Martin King, granddaughter, Kathryn King Reiser and her husband William Edward Reiser; great-grandchildren, Zoie Renee Reiser, Hayden Joseph Reiser, Jacob Ryan Reiser, and Joshua Andrew Reiser, as well as many other loving and supportive friends she considered family.
Family and Friends will gather at 9:00 a.m. for a viewing with a service to follow on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598.
