

Robert (also known as Bobby) Clement DeSouza was born on September 9, 1941, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, and died on March 5, 2022, at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Hospital in Webster, Texas. He was surrounded by his immediate family and Deacon Bob, from St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, when he passed away.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Patricia DeSouza, his sisters Theresa (Tessie) Coutinho and Sister Margaret DeSouza, and his brother-in-law, Francis Coutinho. Bobby leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Flossie DeSouza, daughters Karen DeSouza and Lyla DeSouza –Janda, son-in–law David Janda Jr., granddaughter Angelica Janda, brother Terence (Terry) DeSouza and sister- in-law, Natalia (Natty) DeSouza, his many in-laws, numerous nieces including his godchild Andrea Moraes, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews all over the world. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by his family.
Bobby graduated from Catholic school, St. Sebastian Goan High School in Bombay (Mumbai), India, and went on to get a vocational degree in refrigeration. He worked at the Bank of India for many years where he met his wife, Flossie. After leaving the bank, he worked for a travel agency in Saudi Arabia. Bobby moved to Houston, Texas, in 1985 where he worked at Safeway (that later became Appletree, many other grocery stores, and is now Arlan’s Market) and H-E-B. He retired from H-E-B in 2015. His hobbies were going to church daily and visiting his friends at all the grocery stores in the Clear Lake area. Bobby loved people and enjoyed talking to anyone. No one was a stranger when he was around. Bobby was very involved with St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church where he served as a Minister of Hospitality, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the JOY Group, and led the weekly Rosary on Tuesday nights.
On Thursday, March 17, 2022 a rosary will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at St. Clare of Assisi, 3131 El Dorado Blvd, Houston, TX 77059. A reception will occur Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at St Clare of Assisi, 3131 El Dorado Blvd, Houston, TX 77059. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Bobby’s memory be made to St. Clare of Assisi Knights of Columbus. Checks should be made out to K of C Council 9708, and sent to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 3131 El Dorado Blvd., Houston TX 77059.
