

He was born in Houston on September 24, 1930 to Rodney Dale Thornton and Mildred Viley. He was married to Patsy Thornton.
Rodney had a career as a boilermaker and was a member the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 132. He has a passion for family, friends, dancing and golf.
Rodney was truly an exceptional man with a drive to move mountains. He played so many roles in the lives of those he loved. There are no words to express the immense void in our lives without him. He will be missed beyond measure any all who knew and loved him.
Paw Paw you truly lived a life to the fullest. You exemplified integrity in every area of life, your wisdom was endless and your drive for living every single day never stopped. The impact you had on others will be shared for years to come. Thank you for your unconditional love for sharing your heart and strength. You're truly unforgettable.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father Rodney Dale Thornton; mother Mildred Viley and children Glenn Petty Thornton and Dianne Elease Acevedo.
He is survived by his only adored sister Dolores Ivy Lawhon; grandchildren Tamyhra Miechelle McCoy, Diameka Cheney Tamez, Angenette Renee Acevedo, Joseph Michael Ferri; great-grandchildren Jazalyn D.Shalah Reyes, Daniel Tamez Jr., Isaiah Lee Tamez, Sarah M. Joy Tamez; great-great-granddaughter Dahlia Dianne Renee Tamez; step-children Kim Stacy, Keith and Kurt Trout; step-grandchildren Vanessa Marie Acevedo, Darin and Kurt Trout, Lyndsey Stacy, Krystyn Stacy, Myndy Stacy, Andy Patterson; Step-Great-grandchildren Alexander Perez, Jacob Oviedo, Sebasin Oviedo and Asra Oviedo.
A visitation for Rodney will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
A funeral service will occur Monday, August 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
A graveside service will occur Monday, August 7, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
