Hello.  My name is Kevin M. McNair.  I now reside in Peoria, Arizona.  While residing in Houston, Texas, November 2011, I encountered a DVT resulting in a Pulmonary Embolism. Shortly afterwards, I was referred to Dr. Rodgers. I remember this very kind physician, with pictures of his lovely family in his office, telling me, "Kevin. I am going to do everything I can to find out what caused this"  Dr. Rodgers took several tubes of my blood for testing. On my subsequent Dr's visit, I was sadly informed that Dr. Rodgers passed away.  Thank you Dr. Roger Rodgers for being so kind to me.

Dr Rodgers saved my life and for that I am forever grateful. He was genuine,had a heart, and had a great sense of humor. I was a scared young man when I came down with cancer, he calmed me down and instilled confidence to fight the battle. The world misses angels like Dr Rodgers, when I asked about his family his eyes always perked up. I cried when I heard he left us, and continue to tear up. Thank you so much Roger for being there for so many. God Bless

As I was admitted in Southeast Memorial tonight I had to list my Oncologist, which was Dr. Rogers. Immediately I was informed by the Rounds Physician that he had passed. Dr. Rodgers took someone with no hope, and replaced that misery with Optimism, and faith. I could always count on him to lift my spirits with his sense of humor and compassionate bedside manner.

I became a patient of Dr Rogers on the 24th of may 1980. I was 24 years old  with a daughter that was 2 months shy of her 2nd  birthday. I was a young man with a big question mark in his future ! Thank You for giving me a life again ! I'm 57 now , not only did  I get to see  my daughter Cara grow up , I was blessed with another daughter  Aubrey , I 've also  become a Grandfather . When I read of Dr Rogers passing  I was very saddened . I will always remember his giggle , when I felt like I was at the end , it would give me the hope I needed to make it through another round . I can not believe that no one told me about this. I moved to the Woodlands and just found out today that my dear friend for years has passed away. I knew Roger for 12 years and as a cancer surgeon shared many patients with him. He was a super doctor with great skills and bedside manners. Always with a smile in his face, I can still hear his laughter. My heart goes out to his great wife and children and hope that they have found peace and comfort after such a loss. I will always remember Roger. See you later my friend!

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Dr Rodgers. He will be missed by everyone who's life he touched he saved my life. My deepest sympathy to his family and staff.

Dr. Rogers was my rock.  He believed in me when know one else would, he took the time to know me.  He was my Dr for 3 years and because of him I am here to enjoy my family.  Won't ever forget his ties, they were so fun and he made you laugh when you know you didn't want to anymore.  He will be so missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family, he spoke of you often.

Dr Rodgers was wonderful man who saved my wife and mother  in law with his wise diagnosis of cancer and treatment regimen. He was always kind and upbeat with us and we will miss him very much.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and staff of Dr. Rodgers.    I was shocked when I received the letter today that he had passed away.  Dr. Rodgers was a very kind hearted man and took the time to get to know his patients.   You will most definitely be missed by all.

My prayers and thoughts go out to Dr. Rodgers' family, friends and patients at this time.  He was my initial oncologist when I was first diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer.  His work and dedication will always be remembered.

I met Roger in 1980 when I first moved to Houston and went to work on 6 West, which become the Oncology unit the following year. His vision and committment to the care of people with cancer was inspiring.His down to earth relationships with staff was refreshing. He taught me the fundamentals of oncology care, which I continue to follow 31 years later. He, his contributions,and his unique laugh; will not be forgotten.

Dr Rogers was a passionate and wonderful doctor with a bedside manner that surpassed any doctor I know. He was wonderful man and throughout the time my mother was going through her cancer, he always always was there and answered our many, many questions. He will greatly be missed. I am saddened to hear of Dr. Rodgers passing on 3/28. While treating my Mom for cancer, my Dad also became a patient of Dr Rodgers. From 1998 until 2005 our family got to know Dr Rodgers and his staff. I am certain that under Dr Rodgers' care and my Mom's confidence in Dr Rodgers, she was on the Earth much longer then we thought with her original diagnoise. You could always tell when Dr Rodgers was on the 6th floor doing morning rounds by his laugh. The JR and Katherine Boyd family from Alvin sends our deepest condolences to his family and staff. I can not express my dearest condolences to each and every one of you.  I have been a patient of Dr. Rodger's since 2001, and have seen several patients come and go throughout those years.  Your father, husband, and grandfather, gave the same compassion, care, and eagerness to help each patient no matter what the future was to hold.  He listened to all of his patients.  My daughter was only 11 years old when I was given a 5% survival ratio.  I will never forget the look on his face when I said, "Well you just met me yesterday and do not know me very well.  I am pretty stubborn and can endure more than you think.  Do what you have to do. I need to see my daughter graduate from high school."  Well, my daughter is now 21 years old, and Dr. Rodgers fought hard for me.  He has extended my life and allowed me to see my daughter grow up!  I thank all of you so much for the sacrifices your family endured.  I know he worked hard and long hours so he could save and extend so many other lives. Just know that I know the "pearly gates" opened up for him.  He will be greatly missed!  

My last visit a few months ago, Dr. Rodgers and I got a little teary eyed.  I thanked him for the "bonus days." He looked at me with his eyes filled with tears and said, "We have done good kid.  I am very pleased no matter what happens from here!"  I will be forever grateful to him and to all of you who might not have gotten to spend so much time with him due to his work. I had the honor of meeting Dr. Rodgers when he walked into my mom's hospital room in June of 2008.  He told me that he would research, ponder, do further testing and pray about my mom's condition.  That he did and he was with my mom, Norma Hatfield, and her family throughout the next two years. Each office visit he would go over all my mom's blood work results, line by line, and would answer all my questions.  I always told him that if I went into the medical profession, I would would want to study under him.  He was with us throughout the last weekend of my mom's life and he was with us the morning of her death, February 8, 2010.  Dr. Rodgers was a brilliant physician, a loving and caring man.  He loved God, he loved his family, he loved his patients.  I will never forget him.  I will never forget his beautiful smile.  I will never forget his contagious laugh.  May our Lord watch over the Rodgers family as they grieve the loss of this special precious man.

I met Roger 28 years ago when natasha and my daughter Mandi were in The Bay Area YMCA Indian Guide Father Daughter program. As Chief of the Nation I could always count on Rogers support and participation.His enthusiasm on camp outs and Nation events at Camp Cullen were an inspiration to so many. I was at Dr. George Brown's office this morning and a conversation I had with his front desk lady led our conversation to Dr. Rodgers.  I had the privilege and honor of meeting Dr. Rodgers for the first time in June of 2008 when he walked into my mom's hospital room.  He had been asked by other doctors to look at her file.  He told me that day that he would research her files and he would ponder and pray.  I will never forget that day.  Shortly after this day, my mom had a spinal tap done and my mom was diagnosed by Dr. Rodgers with a rare form of leukemia.  Dr. Rodgers saw her on a regular basis throughout the next two years of her life and he and his staff were always available.  Anytime she was admitted to Clear Lake Hospital, Dr. Rodgers always became her admitting doctor.  He was with us when she was admitted Feb. 5, 2010 and he walked every step of the way with us until the morning of Feb. 8 when my precious mother passed.  I will always be forever grateful for Dr. Rodgers.  He spent much time with me going over my mom's blood work results, explaining each line item to me.  I always told him that if I went into the medical profession I would want to study right beside him.  What an awesome, loving man.  I will miss you, Dr. Rodgers, and I will never forget you, your smile and your awesome laugh!!  You will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Prayers from Norma Hatfield's family. Dr Rodgers is my saving grace, to kikking this illness.  He has been my Doctor for two years.  He has managed my illness so well, that he thought I would be off cytoxin and prednison in two months.  Thank you so much for what you have done for me, and I promise, I will fight hard to keep on getting well!  You will always be missed, "But never forgotten"

My deepest condolences go out to Dr. Rodgers' wife and family.  I was blessed to have him come into my life 9 years ago when I was first diagnosed with cancer.  He comforted me when I first met him in the hospital with a big hug and caring words.  As soon as you met him you knew you were in good hands.  He was a very special person and a brilliant doctor, compassionate and kind with a huge laugh.  He will be truly missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.  My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

Dr Rodgers will always be remembered as the doctor that truly cared for his patients. They were at the forefront of his thinking at all times.
My wife, Joan was his patient for over 18 years and she and I feel he saved her life after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at stage 4. His choice of treatment and guidence to the both of us through this frighting time gave us hope and faith that all possible treatments were being considered and applied. She has been clear of all cancer for over 14 years now. I might add after 18 years he was still concerned and keeping close watch on her till just prior to his illness.
 He will live in both our hearts forever. We will forever be greatful and blessed to have had his guidence and care at a very troubling time in our lives.

While this is a difficult time, please know that as a foundation we can offer support and information to your family as you move forward. I have worked as a neurologist with Dr. Rodgers for almost 20 years. It was my privilege to know him. I have always appreciated his caring and dedication to his patients. As a colleague, I always valued his ready smile. The medical community will be poorer for his loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family at this time of grief.

I have very fond memories of Track Meets, football games, and school functions with Roger. I also knew him professionally. What a great dad as evidenced by Cody! I will miss him.

He was a wonderful, happy Man and did so much for me.  He healed my first cancer in 1998 and again my breast cancer two years ago.  I will miss him dearly as everyone else will.  I always loved his big laugh and happy times spent with him.  So sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with Mrs. Rodgers and the Family.  I always enjoyed all the Family pictures in the waiting room.My thoughts are with all of the Family.

My condolences to Dr. Rodgers family. Dr. Rodgers was my doctor for eight years. He was extremely caring and patient as he helped me through two episodes of cancer. He was so dedicated to his profession and to his patients that he visited me in the hospital when I was having a non-cancer related surgery. I will miss him. My prayers are with his wife and family during this difficult time.

 My sincere sympathy to Dr. Rogers family and his staff.  I was a patient of Dr. Rodgers for the past twenty years.  He saw me through breast cancer and six years ago thorough Uterine cancer.  He was not only a wonderful physcian but such a caring friend.  Your knew that you were in such competent hands that it took so much of the burden of the disease off of you.  He was also such an influence in my family's life that my daughter, Nikki, is now a physcican.  

I will miss him very much.

I spent several years with Roger in a men's Bible study. He was a very good friend to all that attended, and had a very warm soul. I look back fondly at those times, and Roger was a big part of that. You could also tell that he was the kind of doc that everyone would want to visit. Roger, you just will see heaven before us. Thanks for being my friend.

Dr. Rodgers was literally a lifesaver for me.   He was a kind and gentle soul.   I cannot believe he is gone!  He will be sorely missed.

Dr. Rodgers was my father's doctor through his battle with cancer as well as the father of my sister's best friend. As such, he was a memorable part of our family's life. He will be missed.

He will definitely be missed.  He was my doctor for the last two years and I can say that his thoroughness saved my life.  From a patient's perspective, he was jovial and brilliant. God bless his family and I pray that He comforts them.  May we meet again someday in God's presence.

This sadness of news is very hard to process for me. Dr Rodgers has treated me

My 1st visit I was so scared and upset
but Dr Rodgers put my fears all to rest
when I saw and he talked to me.
He was just so understanding and so supporting in everything I needed to know of what the next 2yrs would be.
It was a journey that I will never forget
and be grateful to God and for the wisdom of Dr. Rodgers.  After hour explaining everything so caring to me I walked out of his office and I was never scared again.
He has been taking care of me to this day.
I will miss him so much and he wonderful hugs and laugh.

Dr. Rodgers took care of my mother and me through our cancer treatment.  I've never seen a doctor like him, so interested in all details and care, never missing anything.  My thoughts and prayers to his lovely family as evidenced by the pictures in his office.

I was very sorry to hear of Dr. Rodgers passing.  I have been his transcriptionist for the past 3 years.  He was a very kind, caring and considerate man to his patients.  He would talk to me sometimes when dictating, or apologize if he was coughing too much, or if his dogs were barking a bit too much while he dictated (if working from home).  He would check with me to see how he could make my job easier (he could have very lengthy dictation).  I cannot say enough good things about him.  My sympathy to his family and loved ones.

Dr. Rodgers was my Mother, Edith Stites' doctor during her four year fight with cancer. He was always so caring, kind and honest to all of us. He helped all of us get through this very difficult time in our lives. I want to offer my condolences to his family. I remember how much he loved them and talked about them often. May God give you peace during this very sad time. I know Dr. Rogers is in heaven with all of the other angels. May God bless his family.

Thank you, DR.Rogers for your skills and very compasionate care you have given my mother Pat Rider the past 18 years.  You will be deeply missed by her and our family.  We are very greatful for your care and looking out for her as well as the other patients you have touched.  You will be greatly missed by all of us.  Mom always said you were her GOD! What an angel on earth and a gift from God he was to so many of us whether it was professional or patient related.  So may were a mixture of both.  What an honor to know him.  I will miss his big laugh and smile.

Dr Rodgers has been my Dr since the 90's.  He was always so caring & he absolutely missed nothing. I will miss him, and wish him rest in the arms of angels.  He certainly earned it.

He was a doctor that truly made the patient feel important... and his love for his family was always so apparent.  He will be missed in so many ways. Dr. Rogers was so involved with all his children.  The love he showed them and Patty was great and we will miss him tremendously at our CLBB basketball games.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Patty and the entire family.

Dr. Rodgers was a man who seemed "larger than life", with his intelligence and his big booming laugh!!  I enjoyed working with him, and learning each time I spoke with him.  I was always amazed at the time he gave his patients, his coworkers, but mostly his family!!  He was larger than life!! With most sincere condolences to the family.  We are all better for knowing him.

I am saddened that we have lost a fine man as well as a skilled physician. He cared for my husband with compassion and dedication. He will always be in my heart. My deepest sympathy to his lovely family.

Dr. Rodgers was my husbands doctor for two years and was a very caring and dedicated person.  His death is a great loss to the medical field of cancer.  My heart goes out to his wife and family as I know he will be greatly missed by them, his staff and all his patients.

I was a patient of Dr. Rogers for 18 years.  He was more than my doctor, he treated me with respect, he brought me through two episodes with cancer, he made me laugh when I didn't feel like it.  His whole staff was very uplifting and I will truely miss him.  He loved talking about his family and he let me talk about mine.  He even came to the hospital when my husband was in there to check on him and he wasn't a patient of his.  Great doctor, great person, and I pray for his wife and kids.  You were blessed to have him in your lives, as I was.  God bless you all.
