Roy L. Simmons of Seabrook, Texas passed away at the age of 89 on September 22, 2014. He was born in Alicia, Arkansas on May 26, 1925. He was married to Helen Hillhouse Simmons for 58 years who passed away November 3, 2007. Roy previously worked for Memphis Light Gas & Water and retired from Dashiell Corporation where he worked as an electrical technician.
Roy was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army where he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He served as a medic aboard the USS Frances Y Slanger.
Roy is survived by three children, Larry, Sharon and Chris- five grandchildren, Jeremy, Cortney, Lauren, Brandon and Rebecca. He also leaves behind three great-grand children, McKenna Grace, Merrissa Merie and Paisley Lynn.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 10am Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Forest Park East.
