

She was born on April 24, 1947, in Paris, Texas, to Hunter Bywaters Raper and Cleo Lenoir Heflin.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Gerald Francis Pels; son, Roy Daniel of San Antonio; daughter, Tammi Kay Daniel and son-in-law Michael Daniel of Houston; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hunter Bywaters Raper and Cleo Lenoir Heflin, and brother, Jerry Lynn Raper, of Paris, Texas.
Sharon attended schools in Grand Prairie. She ran a personal business for several years before deciding to dedicate her life to nursing. She obtained a nursing degree in 1993 from San Jacinto College South and worked in the medical field for years. She also served as an advocate for residents of a nursing home.
Sharon was an accomplished artist, specializing in colored pencil drawing. She loved sharing her talent and taught several classes at College of the Mainland and other locations. While she enjoyed teaching and creating art, her true passion was her garden. She took great pride in her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed maintaining close ties to her many friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas.
