My sister and I were raised from infancy by our Nana, who married a man with 3 boys. These now men have always been known to us as our brothers. Until we all became adults and moved out, we grew up in the same household, we ate dinner at the same table, we attended one another’s sporting events, we celebrated each others graduations but most importantly we were a family. 

2 weeks ago we lost one of our brothers. A strong willed, disciplined and charismatic man. Sonny was a physical specimen and anyone who knew him knew that he truly loved keeping himself in the best shape possible. I always admired him for this. In fact, in my earlier days of understanding the blueprint of what it took to be so disciplined in the gym, he was my mentor. He taught me the dos and don’ts, and more importantly he invested in me. He checked in, he kept me accountable. 

Sonny and I lost connection about and year and half ago. Life often takes people in different directions. It’s something I truly regret. I could’ve & should’ve checked in more. 

In death, the living are reminded about how precious life is. 

Sonny, I hope in the Heavens above you’re looking down on all of us, smiling and admiring the world you once walked on knowing that one day we will all be sitting around the dinner table with our single glass of Koolaid laughing about all the funny things we did as kids.

                                                I Remember When
 I remember when we used to sit in the dining room and I would watch all the boys go over football plays.

I remember when we would spend weekends at the fields watching you play.

I remember Friday night lights 50 yard line straight up that was our spot.

 I remember being so embarrassed because you and Mike would get yelled at for getting cramps because you didn’t eat your bananas.

I remember when you would ride your bike all the way to the high school every summer morning so you could work out you always wanted and strived to be better and it showed.

I remember when I would sneak your letterman jacket to school and wear it because I thought I was so cool to have your last name on my back.

I remember when you snuck into our parents room to see what we got for Easter you got caught and you said you didn’t know how you got there. Lol

I remember when you got your first house. I felt so proud because I always looked up to you.

I remember when I got the message saying you were no longer with us.

I remember when it sunk in and how I was filled with so many emotions.

If  we could get one more day, I would have so much to say. I know that day will come until then rest in heaven, Brother.

My Deepest Condolences to the Day family and our Baby Doll Boy Brody,  Sonny was a great Daddy to theses boys . Brody & Evan  and family will miss you always . You were loved by all Brody’s family his only son      Rest in Peace Sonny Grandma Mary loves and prayers for you 

My favorite memory of Sonny was when he was introduced to a gay friend of mine and his impression of him was hilarious. I wasn't sure on how well it would go over with him just because I thought he'd be mad. But him and Jason became friends and he liked him enough to go to a gay club for Jason's birthday. Sonny's reaction to that experience was one I will never forget.
         He was so scared the whole night and was so defensive when he thought someone grabbed his butt, but it was me. And he told me to never do that to him while he was there. Then he struck up a convo with a guy when he was closing out his tab. Taking about sports and cars. He didn't even realize the guy was hitting on him until later.  He was so traumatized.
        I think about him often and he will always be missed. I can still hear his laugh and see his smile. He has been so monumental in my life. And to realize I won't ever see him again hurts my heart for his family. Cause I know how much he meant to everybody.  From now on, all my days will be Sonny's day

I remember growing up together. A lot of hard work and a lot of great times. How funny you were. How you lived life to the fullest. Run free, brother.

Sonny Day you will be greatly missed. Your infectious smile and uplifting personality will always be remembered. It was a pleasure having you in our life’s. You and your family will forever be in our hearts.
