Tyler made his entrance into the world on February 21, 2004, in Pasadena, Texas. His beginnings were not easy, but it wasn’t long before a loving family chose to make him part of their own. He became a son to Terri and James and the younger brother to Jacob, Cassie, and Marissa.
Tyler began his school career in Deer Park and would graduate Cum Laude from Deer Park High School in 2022. Following his graduation, Tyler went from being a Deer to a Cougar as he enrolled as a psychology major at the University of Houston.
Tyler’s life can best be summarized by a line in one of his favorite movies, HARDBALL - - “…one of the most important things in life is showing up.” Tyler Medina showed up as a friend, as a brother and as a son. He made sure he was present and expressing his love in a way that was meaningful to you and that you could truly feel. Tyler would double book an afternoon, (MMA and spending time together, Working and dinner, etc.) but after being told he was missed and our time together was important, he showed up to every special occasion and family gathering. He gave us notice if there were other things he needed to take care of and would ask us to come along when possible. We are now so so grateful for every one of those seconds we put aside for each other.
We will miss Tyler’s generous and kind heart. Even if in the morning Tyler had been worried about saving his money for this or that, the second he saw anyone else who he felt needed something, he would give anything he had to make sure that person was more comfortable- whether it was giving food and water to locals in the area, buying extra cat food for the neighborhood strays, or covering for a friend so they could both afford going out and having a meal or experience together. Tyler gave everything he could to make sure others were cared for.
Tyler will be missed every single day by those who were touched by his presence. We will work to be kinder, gentler, and more present for those around us. There is a hole in our hearts, but we will find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with his dad.
Tyler is preceded in death by his father, James and pet, Yzma. Tyler is survived by his Mother: Terri; siblings: Jacob, Cassie, Marissa, Shane, and Isabelle; his nieces and nephews: Mark, Gavin, Alexis, Ember, and River; girlfriend: Erica; beloved animals: Layla, Bella, Rodrick, and Memito; and countless friends, family members, and loved ones.
A visitation for Tyler will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a service following the visitation. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
