Weldon Bond passed peacefully with his family near his side on Sunday, November 21, 2021. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas to Earl and Ben Erma Bond. He was a member of the Pasadena High School Basketball State Champion Team in 1946. He graduated from Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont, Texas in 1953 with a degree in business science. While there, he met and fell in love with Geraline ("Jerry") Foreman, who he was then married to for 52 years.

Weldon worked as a computer programmer for Shell Oil Company in Houston for over 35 years before retiring when he was 62. Once he retired, Weldon and Jerry enjoyed traveling, visiting places like Hungary, Thailand, Alaska, while also enjoying many pilgrimages. Weldon excelled at numbers-based games like dominoes and Rack-O, which he especially enjoyed playing in his final years. Weldon enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and fishing. He had a charitable spirit and was generous with his money and his time. Weldon liked to serve the parish of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church as well as the Cursillo Retreat Center, always with a big smile. He had a big place in his heart for both of these places. Weldon’s greatest love was his family. He was always there for his children and grandchildren. He was a selfless provider and loved in his own special way. His quiet, subtle ways of caring for others was a beautiful example to his family and others. He will be greatly missed for all he was and all he did during his life, most of all by his large but close-knit family.

Weldon is preceded in his death by his loving wife, Jerry Bond, in 2007; his parents Earl and Ben Erma Bond; and his brothers Raymond, Bill, and Richard Bond. He is survived by his four children, Larry Bond; Terry Kelley and her husband Randy; Darrell Bond and his wife Donna; Charla Pratt and her husband Steve; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who loved and took care of our dad, many of them felt like family to him and to our family. In our dad’s words, “You are a very good helper!”

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Weldon be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook Street, Houston, Texas 77034.
