William “Bill” Arthur Essary, 80, of League City, Texas passed away on December 25, 2021. Bill was born on September 29, 1941 in Carthage, Missouri and grew up in Miami, Oklahoma. He was the center on the football team in high school and was a very proud member of the MHS class of 1959. Bill received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, moved to Texas, and then worked as a Chemical Engineer for many years. He received his Professional Engineers license in 2001 and was very proud of this accomplishment. He used his PE license to do work all over the world to fund his own travels.
He married Karen Gross in 1967 and they raised 2 daughters together. When she passed away unexpectedly in 1990, he found love again and married Phyllis Brooks Campbell and gained two more children.
Bill loved his family, he loved playing golf and telling really bad jokes, and loved being exceedingly goofy. He also loved spending time with his friends from his neighborhood, from his church and from his travels.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father Harriette Fallis Essary and Howard Essary, and his wife Karen Gross Essary. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Campbell Essary; his children Wayne Campbell, Kim Essary Patten, Vicki Essary Bradbeer, Lori Campbell Ashenfelder and their spouses; and his grandchildren Kristi Endres, DJ Newcomb, Kelsie Williams, Ryan Newcomb, Abby Patten, John Patten, Travis Patten, Blake Bradbeer, Will Bradbeer, Logan Ashenfelder, Morgan Ashenfelder, and many, many friends and golf partners.
A visitation for Bill will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to start at 12:00 p.m. and interment to follow. All services will be at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery in Webster, Texas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to either The Diabetes Research and Action Education Foundation, diabetesaction.org, or the American Heart Association, heart.org.
