Willie Jones Jr., a faithful servant of Christ and a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 90. He will be forever cherished by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sandra Jones, whom he adored deeply and loved unwaveringly. Willie was born on June 7, 1935, in Paris, Texas, to Willie Jones Sr. and Lola B. Jones. Affectionately known as “Sonny,” he was one of nine children. He attended Bankhead Elementary School, graduated from Gibbons High School and later attended Huston-Tillotson University.
Willie honorably served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4). As a paratrooper during the Korean War, he demonstrated extraordinary courage and dedication, completing more than 30 jumps behind enemy lines to obtain critical intelligence—often under combat conditions. His bravery and sacrifice stand as a lasting testament to his love for the country.
Willie was a man of many talents. A gifted cook, he was well known for preparing the best ribs and fried fish many had ever tasted. After high school, he was scouted for a professional baseball
training camp and remained a competitive athlete throughout his life. He coached his son’s basketball teams and enjoyed golfing well into his 70s, often walking all 18 holes with a cheerful
spirit. Throughout his life, Willie’s love for sports was most evidenced by his commitment in following his favorite teams, including the KC Chiefs, LA Lakers and the Cleveland Guardians.
A natural problem-solver and teacher, Willie shared his knowledge freely—including, repairing cars, fixing household items, providing at-home medical treatment, and teaching others practical skills. Willie had a genuine love for fishing, and many in the family fondly remember catching their very first fish with him by their side. Willie also had such a deep love for animals that he was often jokingly referred to by members of the family as the “animal whisperer.” He even purchased a horse so he could take the family horseback riding on weekends in a nearby town.
Willie’s professional life was diverse and accomplished. He owned and operated two kennels that raised greyhounds for competitive racing on national and international levels. Alongside his
wife, Sandra, he owned two chicken restaurants. He later became a successful salesman at a Chrysler dealership, frequently earning monthly sales awards. Before retiring, he served as a security manager for a major food manufacturer in El Paso, Texas. In retirement, Willie continued serving others by developing a Christian prayer website called, prayformesite.com, which connected people around the world in prayer and encouragement.
A devoted member of the Central Church of Christ in Pearland, Texas, Willie lived a life of faithful service. He supported church projects, participated in outreach efforts, and generously gave his time—whether distributing Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need or offering help wherever it was required. His life reflected humility, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Willie shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with his wife, Sandra Jones, whom he met in El Paso, Texas. Together, they built a life grounded in faith and love, raising their children Darren, Michelle, and Marcus. Willie also held his other children, Danny and Lucrease, close in his heart, no matter the distance.
Willie Jones Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Jones Sr. and Lola B. Jones; his brothers, Arthur Ray Jones and Johnny B. Jones; his sister, Gladys Louise Jones; and his grandson Marlon Bass.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sandra Jones; his sisters, Evelyn Stewart, Carol Pendery (Lud), Delois Jones, and Barbara Jones; his brother, Donald Jones; his children, Lucrease Bass (James), Danny Jones (Beverly), Marcus Jones, Darren Sanders, and Michelle Sanders; and his beloved grandchildren, Carlous Bass, Adetra Jones, Kris Jones, Danny Jones Jr., Lucretia Carter, Joseph Jones, Stacy Buchanan, Chandler Pacheco, Avery Pacheco and many loved nieces and nephews.
Willie Jones Jr.’s legacy of love, patience, respect, forgiveness, loyalty, humor, faith, and commitment to excellence will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished forever.
