Ronald F. Friese

Ron was born in Milton MA to the late Henry and Madeline (Gilmore) Friese. He graduated from Holbrook (MA) High School in 1956 where he was a member of the football team. After High School, he attended Springfield College. Ron lived in Abington, MA for many years, working at various manufacturing jobs in Massachusetts and Rhode Island before purchasing Dutra’s Market with his wife Lois in 1985. They ran the store until his retirement in 2002.

Ron enjoyed woodworking and electronics. He built a color television from a HeathKit in the early 1970s, having a friendly competition with his twin brother, Bob, to see who could complete the television first. As a ham radio operator, he spoke with people across the world and enjoyed trading postcards with the people he spoke to over the ham radio. He was also a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife Lois, his brother Robert Friese of Hyannis and his children: Karen Hathaway, Ronald E. Friese (Cheryl) of Davenport, Florida, Kristine Friese of Wellfleet, stepson Steve Eschner of Wisconsin and two grandchildren. He is also survived by a nephew, Michael Friese.
