For those who knew Anne, you know that she loved music, and it played a very important part of her life both personally, and professionally. Anne attended night school to obtain her degree, and then pursued her dream of teaching by attending teacher’s college. Anne taught with the Toronto District Schoolboard for 18 years, where she predominately taught grade school and incorporated her love of music by volunteering to do choir and write and direct musicals for schools she worked at. After retirement, she continued her love of teaching by assisting those immigrating to Canada learn and perfect their English. Anne taught ESL for 10 years, where she formed many friendships that continued after her teaching was completed.
The dancing queen loved her music, and to no surprise loved to dance, as well. She and her late husband George joined the Legion where they had many opportunities to dance. Anne's enthusiasm for dancing led her into line dancing classes which she took for many years along with several friends, all seniors.
Throughout Anne’s life, she would create smocked dresses for her loved ones. She made them for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friend’s children and grandchildren, as well.
Besides planting and caring for her many roses, she joined the Toronto cactus club in the later years of life, which started an entire new enthusiasm. She learned a great deal from other members leading her to grow cacti herself.
She was a tough woman, who overcame obstacles to continue living her own life. We hope wherever she is, she still has dancing.
