PETTITT, Dianne (nee White) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Dianne Ida Pettitt, on February 6th, 2020 at the age of 81. With family by her side, Dianne passed away peacefully at Scarborough Grace Hospital.

Dianne was born in Toronto on August 20, 1938 to Ina Elizabeth White (nee Bell) and James Couper White. Dianne is now reunited with her loving husband Ronald Samuel Pettitt and the many other loved ones who passed before her including her parents, In-laws, dear sister Jeannette Orrisson and loving brother James White.

Forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children Philip Christopher, Kelly Ann (Kimmy) and Timothy Glenn (Lindsay), sister Lynn White-Tarr, sister-in-law Arlene McCombs, grandchildren Jaime, Chelsea, Ashley, Jack, Hailey and Blake as well as her nieces and nephews, Charles Jr., Carter, John, Mark, Nicole, Colette, Heather, Eric and Lisa. Dianne will also be greatly missed by her faithful dog, Dodger and his adopted family, Leo, Cristin and Cornelius.

Our Mom was kind, caring, gentle, compassionate, loyal and spiritual. Mom loved with all her heart and will be most remembered for her boundless love of family, friends and dogs. Mom was also a courageous breast cancer survivor. Our family would like to sincerely thank the medical team at Scarborough Grace Hospital for the thoughtful care our Mom received. Our family felt truly supported by the caring nursing teams in Units 3D and 4C and the empathetic medical attention of Dr. Amin, Dr. Keen and Dr. Marcus.

Visitations for Dianne will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be on the following day, Thursday, February 13, 2020, at St. Margaret-in-the-Pines Anglican Church, 4130 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario, at 11 a.m. Dianne will be laid to rest at St. Margaret’s Cemetery following her service.

Dearest Kelly,

Although I did not know your mother personally, I feel that I knew her through you. I know that she must have been, kind, patient, understanding and generous with a great sense of humor. I know this, because one cannot teach these virtues unless one possess them. All of these wonderful qualities that you hold are a product of your dear mother Dianne.

As you know, I too have lost my dear mother and know what you must be feeling. A mother is the most precious being on earth. No one and nothing can fill the void created by the loss of a dear mother. May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and tranquility to get you through the difficult days ahead. I hope and pray that our Heavenly Father brings you and your family much needed peace. My condolences to you and the rest of the Pettitt family.

All my love,
Lucy Faria Jackson

I had hoped to attend Dianne's funeral this morning but the snow has changed my plans. I remember Dianne coming to babysit in our house on Woodbine; she fell asleep one night and my parents had a tough time waking her up to open the door! Dianne and Ron were a great couple; she was a very proud mother to you three, Phil, Kelly and Tim. I am sure that you will miss her but I am glad that you have the comfort of many loving shared memories. Hugs, Patricia

It’s a memory of Kelly... of the love she had in her face as she spoke about her mom over our many breakfasts. It’s love shared and for which we are all blessed to have witnessed.

Kelly, Tim and Phil, my sincerest condolences on the passing of your beloved Mother.

From the moment I met her she treated me as part of the family. Mrs Pettitt opened her front door and literally threw her arms around me and giggled and giggled (cause she knew “I wasn’t a hugger”).

Kelly had warned me that her family were “huggers” but I had no idea! I can honestly say that The Pettitts taught me to enjoy giving and receiving hugs.

At that first dinner with The Pettitts, I truly felt the love at the table and around the home. I was served the most “darkened veggies” with the WIDEST of smiles. I didn’t get it! At home we didn’t serve the “BURNED STUFF“ let alone serve it to the new person!

I later found out that they all LOVED the “DARKENED STUFF” and were sharing the goodness with me 😊.

From the moment of that first hug I shared with Mrs Pettitt to the last, I felt her unconditional love and I hope she felt mine.

Mrs Pettitt, your love, kindness and laughter will live on in my heart. I love you.

Rest In Peace with your beloved Ron.

Maria

Kelly, Tim & Phil, we are so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom. While she longed to be reunited with your dad, and she’s no doubt with him now, she was brave enough and strong enough to carry on without him for many years. In those years we watched her thoroughly enjoy her time with all of you, her adored grand children and, of course, her beloved Morgan and then Dodger. She was warm, engaging, welcoming and loving, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing her. XO

What a beautiful lady. I am so happy we got to spend Christmas Day together. We talked about times and her family who she loved with all her heart. A grand lady for sure. She will be missed by many. RIP Dianne. Hugs to the family in this sad time.

Although I believe you are with your husband Ron now and all of the other family, dear friends and wonderful dogs that you loved who have now passed on, it still hurts very much that we can't call you, visit you or pick you up for breakfast. You welcomed me into your family with loving arms. I will always cherish and hold the memories of your unconditional love within my heart. Rest in Peace 'Mom' Dianne. You will never be forgotten. We miss you already. Love you 'more' - Kimmy. xo
