It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dominique Marie Chevassu on August 8, 2024, at the age of 41. Dominique was born on December 26, 1982, in Ottawa, Ontario, where she began a life filled with love, adventure, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Dominique was married for ten wonderful years to her beloved husband, Michael Pratt. Together, they built a life filled with joy, partnership, and enduring love.
She was the cherished mother of three beautiful daughters: Sophie, Charlotte, and Margot. Dominique’s love for her children was the driving force in her life, and she devoted herself entirely to raising them with boundless love, patience, and care. Dominique’s legacy is one of a devoted mother who put her children above all else, ensuring that they were surrounded by warmth and affection every day of their lives.
Dominique was the treasured daughter of Patricia Delgado De La Cruz and the late Paul Chevassu, who passed away nine years ago. She is also survived by her dear sister Nathalie, who, along with her husband Andrew, shared an unbreakable bond with Dominique.
Dominique’s childhood was marked by her time living in Switzerland and Singapore, experiences that broadened her horizons and instilled in her a deep love for travel and languages. Inspired by her mother's Colombian heritage, Dominique developed a passion for learning Spanish and spent a semester studying at a university in Spain. Fluent in Spanish, French, and English, Dominique was a true citizen of the world, but Canada was always her home.
For 17 years, Dominique served her community with dedication through her work at Service Canada. Her commitment to helping others was evident in everything she did. However, she made the selfless decision to take time away from her career to focus on her greatest joy—raising her three precious daughters.
Dominique’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and her tireless devotion to her children.
A private funeral service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lymphoma Canada in Dominique’s memory.
Dominique will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love, strength, and spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
