AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Dorothy Joan Wells

4 décembre 19329 mai 2021

Dorothy Joan Wells (nee Nolan) was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 4th, 1932. She passed away peacefully at home May 9th, 2021. Dorothy was the loving wife of James “Jim” for 49 years. She was a proud member of Legion Branch No. 258.

Services for Dorothy are private and under the care of Giffen-Mack Funeral Home.

The following was Dorothy’s favorite short story and her wishes for her final resting place,

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Aunt Dorothy was a strong powerful giving women. Though not an aunt by blood she treated me as her niece and was always in my court. Her mother aunt Edna was my grandmother’s girlfriend and I grew up with the benefit of these strong women. My paternal grandfather is buried in the same plot as my aunt Edna. So you can see we were a tight group. I visited ,took my father to see her and uncle Jim and kept in contact by phone. I will miss our phone calls as she was the only link I had left to the past
Love you always

It was our pleasure to have known and become trusted friends of Dorothy. Her intellect, humour and candor always added fun to our daily visits and conversations even when the end was close.
We would like to give special thanks to Personal Support Workers Angela Decosta and Veronica Lewis. Their assistance, kindness and care enabled us to ensure Dorothy’s wish to stay at home was respected and peaceful. Also thanks to Dorothy’s palliative care team, including Dr. Erick Ling, Gabrielle Davis, Tasha Frederick and Lindsay Dupont whose support helped us through Dorothy’s passing.
Rest in peace, Dorothy. Always loved and remembered by us and our family.

MY FAMILY AND I ENJOYED VISITING DOROTHY AND HEARING OF ALL THE VOLUNTEER WORK SHE DID AT THE LEGION. UNFORTUNATELY, WE LIVED TOO FAR AWAY TO SEE HER VERY OFTEN. REST IN PEACE, DOROTHY AND SAY HELLO TO MY BROTHER, JIM.

Photo from 2013 when the Wells girls were together for the last time. We had a wonderful visit with Dorothy that day and now it's a beautiful memory. So glad we had that opportunity to be together.
