It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Errol Joseph Jardine on November 17th, 2024, in his 89th year at Scarborough Centenary Hospital. Predeceased by his loving parents Louis and Naomi of Trinidad. Loving husband for over 60 years to Phyllis (Persad) Jardine. Proud father to David (Hyame), Dionne (Craig), and most adoring Poppa to Cameron. Second eldest of 6, Errol is a beloved brother to Earcle “Tony”, Marilyn, Kathleen, Yvette, and Lynette. Brother-in-law to Dolores, Gerry (predeceased), Michael, Kelvin & Malcolm (both predeceased). Loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephew. Errol will be deeply missed by all his extended family and life-long friends.
Errol was born in Siparia, Trinidad & Tobago on October 25th, 1936. He left Trinidad at the age of 20 to study in England. Over the next 7 years, he served in the British Army and worked at United Rum Merchants. In 1962 he began dating Phyllis who would later become his wife in London in March 1964. In 1966 they decided to move to Canada with the intentions of starting a family. They landed at the Port of Montreal and then settled in Toronto. He worked for Willard’s Chocolates, and then in August 1971 he joined Toyota Canada Inc., and proudly worked there for 28 years before retiring in 1999. They spent their retired years travelling with each other, friends, and with the kids and their families. For many years, he enjoyed watching hockey, baseball, football, cricket and soccer and playing golf. They loved hosting parties and attending dances because of his love for dancing, laughing, eating, and having a good time. If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew of his wit & humour, that he had a genuinely good heart and would help anyone in any way that he could.
Special thanks to all the staff at Centenary Hospital who took care of Errol over the last couple of months, especially during his last moments.
