Dear Una,Marquis and the Felix family.

I am very sorry to hear the sad news about the passing of Val, who was my friend for many years.  

I first met Val at C.I.B.C. my first “real” job after college. Val was an impressive man and the model of a perfect gentleman:  a sharp dresser with a quiet dignity and strength. Despite our differences in age and experience, he was always kind, and I looked up to him as a mentor for both work and life. After I left the bank, we called each other regularly throughout the years.

I will miss Val very much, and will always remember his goodness and kindness. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family.  Our thoughts and sympathies are with you.  May you have peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Una, Marques,Suzanne, Helen and extended family members, please accept our sincere condolences. 
Una,  as we both grieve the passing of two gentle giants, our beloved,our best friend, we ask for God’s grace,strength and comfort as we navigate the remainder of our earthly  lives without the pillars we’ve  leaned on all these years.We were truly blessed .
Val was soft spoken, got things done without any fuss or worry. A  silent but impactful type of guy, a beautiful smile and always with words of wisdom. 
He stood tall a tower of strength and always willing to give a helping hand. Over the past 50 plus years you and I forged a friendship, having worked together, Val was Confirmation godfather to my son Dwight as you Una is  godmother to my daughter Tania. There were so many good time of fun, watching Val play cricket, enjoying our love of of dancing.
Take comfort that both men died days apart and in the same hospital and is now in the loving embrace of Our Heavenly Father.
May the beautiful memories of a life well lived be a legacy to sooth you as you grieve.

Some of my earliest memories are of events at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Felix.  You were the movie star couple in my young mind.  The three of us Farrell girls stayed with you when our parents attended an event out of town.  I vividly remember going to a park with you and twisting my ankle badly when I was walking along the top of a curb and then falling off.  Mr. Felix scooped me up and first aid was deftly applied by Mrs. Felix.  This is a core memory that has impacted how I interact with every child I have cared for in the last 50+ years.  My weak ankles have always kept me tied, in memory, to Mr. Felix (and Mrs. Felix).  I am saddened by his passing because he is yet another person I will miss from that generation.  I hope that you will be having a fête with my parents soon, Mr. Felix.  Love from Jackie Farrell Linton
