

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jean Elizabeth Harley (nee Remmer). Jean passed peacefully in her sleep, in her 97th year, on November 11, 2025 at Lakeview Manor long-term care home in Beaverton, Ontario.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Harley, who was a WWII veteran. Jean will be greatly missed by her two devoted daughters Linda (Ken) and Susan (Claudio). Loving grandmother to Todd (predeceased), Jeffrey (Lisa), Michael, and Jenna (Ryan). Great-grandmother to Harley, Hailey, Mason, and step-great-grandson Hayden. Predeceased by younger brother Frank Remmer (Grace).Fondly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Jean was born and raised in Highland Creek, Scarborough, Ontario on her maternal family (Milroy) homestead located where Pan Am Centre now exists (Morningside Avenue and Military Trail). She spent her childhood summers on her paternal family (Remmer) farm (3rd Concession, Pickering Ontario). She attended Highland Creek Public School where five generations of Milroys have attended. She married and raised her own family in "the Creek" and resided in her beloved home on Military Trail into her early nineties.
Family and friends are welcome at Giffen-Mack Scarborough Funeral Home at 4115 Lawrence Avenue East (one block west of Kingston Rd.), 416-281-6800 on November 21st, 2025 at 11:00 AM with reception to follow from 12:00 PM. A private interment to follow at Heritage United Cemetery (formerly Zion Cemetery).
In memory of Jean Harley, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
