Mr. Keniman "Huck" Julian Sherman

When a cure was not to be.

So He closed His arms around you

and whispered, "Come to me."

You did not deserve what you went through,

And so He gave you rest,

God's garden must be beautiful

For He only takes the best.

In time we saw you sinking,

We watched you fade away,

Our hearts were almost broken,

You fought so hard to stay.

But when we saw you sleeping

so peacefully free of pain,

We could never wish you back

to suffer that again.

If you had spoken before you died,

These are the words you'd have replied,

"Weep not for me, but courage take

And love one another for my sake."

It is with great sadness the family of Keniman Julian Sherman, announces his peaceful passing, with both his daughters by his side on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 79. He was surrounded by his loved ones after an unexpectedly short but courageous battle with cancer. Leaving behind his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Born on the beautiful West Indian island of Saint Vincent on June 1, 1941, Ken was the second child and the first born son of Henry and Esmie Sherman. Brother to Joan (brother-in-law David Carmichael) and Victor Sherman (sister-in-law Silvia). Husband to Naomi (Faria-Rajnauth) Sherman. Father to Lisa (son-in-law Sebastian Garofalo) and Debbie (son-in-law Chris Biagini). Proud grandfather (aka Gramps) to Paul (Stefanie Garofalo) Carmelina, Alexandra, Samantha, and Christian. Very special great grandfather to Sebastian and Alexa (Garofalo). Ken is fondly remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family as well as close friends.

Known to his friends as “Huck”, short for Huckleberry because of his defiant nature to always participate and join with the older group of boys to show them that, he too, could dive off the waterfall cliffs of Maracas Valley, in Trinidad and into the beautiful pool of water below; much to the consternation of his sister Joan.

After moving from St. Vincent to Trinidad and then to Venezuela, Ken arrived in Toronto in 1955, where he attended Danforth Tech and the Ontario College of Art.

Along with his passion for art, Ken's interests and hobbies included a continued quest for knowledge around history, travel, social and political issues, as well as the arts and entertainment world. He pursued a career in sales which included Simpsons Inc., Continental Can and Kruger Canada.

A family man who enjoyed traveling to the West Indian Islands as well as Fort Myers Beach Florida, spending time with his family and friends and sharing his “growing up” West Indian Folklore stories with children, who were only too eager to listen.

As we honor you, daddy, we will continue to do so with the beautiful legacy you have left behind. We love you. xoxo
