Sept 9, 1959 – Nov 12, 2025
Born on Sept 9, 1959 to Mavis (Churchill) and Ron Donlon, Peter was a bright-eyed, somewhat mischievous boy who grew up with his two brothers and sister on the outskirts of Toronto in Scarborough. There were farms and forests where young children could play mostly unattended and so they learned to be independent and somewhat fearless. Peter’s nickname was Fireball, and while any trouble they got into was generally harmless, it was fortunate that their mum worked in the Emergency Department at Scarborough General.
Peter was a mischievous lad, with a twinkle in his eye and stories to tell. He was a charming conversationalist who loved fishing, nature, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Peter was always unapologetically himself. His strong charismatic unfiltered personality could have you talking with him for hours, whether you got a word in or not. His stories and sense of humour could have you lost in conversation out of pure laughter and entertainment. He had many jobs growing up and learned many valuable life lessons first as a short order cook and waiter at Mille’s 24 hour truckstop in West Hill, then continued his education and career through the trades, while also working part-time as a real estate agent. He was a member of the Boilermaker Union Local 128 for 46 years and spent the last 24 years keeping the heat on for schools throughout the Toronto District School Board and from where he retired in April of 2025.
On September 10th, 1988 Peter wed the beautiful Judy (nee Crocker) Donlon. They settled down and raised two stellar children, Tara and Matthew Donlon. His world revolved around his family, and selflessly did everything he could to provide them with a great life. He truly was a family man, everything he did was for them. His children were loved fiercely and are now smart, capable, exceptional adults making their way in the world.
The family sends their heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses and personal support workers, especially Alvin, that helped Peter during these last few months. Thank you to everyone who maintained their friendships over the years. He truly loved all his friends. We look forward to hearing about his adventures through your memories for many years to come.
Peter Donlon was a loving man with a huge heart who was immensely proud of his two beautiful children Tara and Matthew Donlon. He leaves behind many broken hearts, his loving wife Judy Donlon, his brother John (Pam Rondeau) Donlon and sister Denise (Murray McLauchlan) Donlon, predeceased by his brother Paul Donlon; his nieces and nephews Blaine, Tyler, Ryan, Connie and Daniel Donlon, Duncan McLauchlan and Sarah Sackville-McLauchlan, great-niece Eleanor Donlon, great-nephew Braxton Donlon and great-niece Morgan Donlon. Along with all his loving in-laws Mary, Christine, Bill, Andrew Crocker, niece Megan Gunn, nephew Travis Gammon, Sean Talebian, Anthony Paiva and his great-niece Josie Gunn and great-nephew Kaleb Gammon.
