

Anthony Jerome (Tony) Hebel, of West Palm Beach, died December 10, 2014. He was born on March 2, 1928, in LaSalle, IL where he grew up and where he graduated from Saint Bede Academy. Tony served with the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. After his service he attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in Advertising. Making his way to Chicago, he embarked on a successful career and became a partner at Post, Keyes & Gardner Advertising Agency. When he sold his share in the agency in 1980, he was able to concentrate on his love of golf.
He was president of Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, and was chairman of the 1982 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
Tony was a Director of the Chicago District Golf Association and rated over 1,000 golf courses in Illinois and Florida. He was also a past president at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, and served as a member of the Scholarship Committee and Membership Committee. He was chairman of the 1995 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament held at Bear Lakes. He was also very active in the Florida State Golf Association.
Tony was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Hetrick.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lynn, his three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Susan, Richard and Christine, William and Alexia, and five grandchildren, Katherine, Stephen, Helen, Corey, and Natasha.
Tony was devoted to his family, to his friends and to his work. He embraced every day of his 86 years with a dash of wit and a pinch of pizazz. His greatest gift to us all was the example of a life led with integrity and with devotion to those he loved.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 16 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of West Palm Beach at 11am.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Saint Bede Academy, Peru, Illinois.
