

Burton D. Fisher peacefully passed away in Boca Raton on January 26, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born in Brooklyn New York, the son of Florence and Sol Fisher. He is survived by his son, sister and brother-in-law Arlyn and David Bamberger of Palm Beach Gardens, niece Lori Bamberger of Mill Valley, CA, nephew and his wife Jeffrey Bamberger and Anne Russell of Burlington, Vermont and daughter Kate Bamberger of Boston, MA.
Burt worked in the printing business in New York City with his beloved father.
For his second career he was an opera conductor and concert pianist who studied at the Mannes and Juilliard schools. He authored and published over 150 books related to specific operas and the art form in general. Opera Journeys Publishing has published Fisher's Opera Classics Library Series and many opera pertinent books.
He was a principal lecturer for the Opera Journeys Lecture Series at Florida International University and lectured monthly at many venues.
He was commissioned author of Season Opera Guides and Program Notes for regional opera companies, translating librettos for new CD/DVD releases for SONY-BMG, and was a frequent opera commentator on National Public Radio.
Burt will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
