

CLAYTON “CLAY”EDWARD EVANS, 88, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on 12/28/13. Born in Princess, KY, he was the son of the late Dovie Evans and Frank Morrison He was raised in Logan, West Virginia.
He served in the Army/Air Force from March 1943 until Feb. 1946 in the Signal Air Warning Battalion as a medical technician
He was a member of the Int. Typographical Union as Type-setter for over forty years. He worked at the Logan News/Logan Banner in Logan, West Virginia. He & his family moved to West Palm Beach in 1954. He worked for the Palm Beach Post Times for 10 years, the Chicago Tribune, the Town News Press in Pompano Beach & for 25 years worked as printer/shop foreman at Al Ross & Sons Publishing Co. until he retired in May 1990
Clay was devoted to his family and was an avid baseball player, fan and coach who coached Little League and the Babe Ruth Leagues in West Palm Beach. He was a member of United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches since 1955 & served as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Lion Club.
Clay was predeceased by this wife of 52 years, Elsie Evans and his son, Clayton Edward “Eddie.” Survivors include three daughters Carolyn Heffner, Martha Icard (Douglas Cone) & Donna St-Laurent (Louis) and one brother John Evans (Helen) of Hamilton, OH He had granddaughters Shelly (Socrates), Tracy & grandsons Jacques Andre’ & Dominique.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the chapel of the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, 900 Brandywine Rd., West Palm Beach, FL 33409.
