David Ian Marshburn, born March 25, 1958, passed away at home May 12, 2022. He leaves behind a loving wife, Jacquie, who was with him when he passed. He is also survived by his two daughters Margo and Marissa, their husbands Matt and Phillip, and two beautiful granddaughters Morgan and Madison who he loved deeply. That being said, his legacy goes even further as he dedicated his life to serving others. He worked many years as a group home house parent, as well as a mental health tech, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. In that way, he had many children who came to love and trust him as a father. He understood, more than most, that service to others is the best way to heal our own trauma.
Those who knew him will remember him as a man who could make friends anywhere he went. He had a story for everything, and he was more than willing to share those over and over again whether you liked it or not. He was never afraid to reach out to offer words of comfort or humor, often finding a way to combine the two. He was the kind of man who projected joy even when he himself was struggling, and that is how he would want to be remembered. It was his wish to not hold any services to mark his death. Instead, to those who wish to honor his memory, please reach out to those around you and continue his legacy of connection. Talk to a stranger, reach out to a loved one, project joy out in to the world in his name.
