Frances Petrona Grimes

Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Harry L. Grimes Jr., son-in-law, Robert E. Yahn, daughter, Mrs. Hazel A. Grimes Yahn and their son William E. Yahn.

She is survived by three children, Veronica Lee Grimes Eckrem, Mrs. Julia O. Grimes Dull and her husband Gary A. Dull, and Harry L. Grimes III, PhD (“Lee”) and his husband Brad E. Huberman. She also has six surviving grandchildren; John P. Eckrem and his wife Leanna, Marie J. Fjellanger and her husband Lee, Yvonne M. Eckrem, Nicholas J. Yahn and his wife Anne, Michael L. Dull and his wife Grace, and Hayley N. Dull. There are also eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was the last of the four children born to Lithuanian immigrants, Simon and Delia Rokoske of Danville, Illinois. It was in Danville that she met and married the love of her life, Air Force Master Sergeant Harry Leighton Grimes, Jr. She followed her husband from Air base to Air base during his life-long career, and the couple were blessed with four children. Harry retired in 1966 and they moved to West Palm Beach, Florida.

Frances was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, FL, where she attended regularly. She resided in Lake Clarke Shores until the sudden passing of her husband Harry in 1974. She moved to nearby Lake Clarke Gardens condominiums, where she lived until 2004. Finally, she lived with Lee and Brad (her son and her son-in-law) in Cincinnati, Ohio until her death.

Frances loved to see the world, and (even after the military travel) took several trips with her children to see such far away countries as Canada, China, Japan, Italy,and Egypt. She loved her family, and she took joy in spending time with them.

We will all miss her deeply, but she has rejoined her beloved husband and her family in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5-6:30 pm at the Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, 33417. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, 11:30 am at St. Juliana's Catholic Church, 4500 S Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, 33405. Burial will be at 1pm at the Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, 33407.
