

Helen was born in Washington, D.C. and spent her early life in Arlington, VA. She began her career at the Academy of Model Aeronautics and later worked for the Arlington County Juvenile Court System. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Florida Atlantic University and worked as the comptroller of Exquisite Autos of the Palm Beaches.
In May of 1986, she met her beloved husband Michael Barson at the Lake Anne Festival in Reston, VA. They relocated to West Palm Beach, FL in 1994 to care for her mother, where they made many lifelong friends. Helen brought joy to all that knew her and loved to have fun, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. She believed fiercely in never ever giving up, believing in yourself, the joy is in giving, and being grateful for your blessings every day.
She is survived by her husband Michael Barson and their son Michael Barson II. She is also mother of daughter, Joyce Grimm (Ed) and son, Kelly Costello (Stephanie) with former husband, James Costello. She will be missed by three grandchildren, Kate & Will Grimm and Hurley Costello. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Seleta Edwards, and brother, Michael Edwards. She leaves behind brother, Jonathan Edwards; and sisters, Annette Muscarella and Ingrid Johnson (John). She was aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to honor Helen at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL, CREMATION & EVENT CENTER, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 on Sunday, June 4 from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Wake Service to be held at 5:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 310 Olive Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33401 on Monday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL.
