Next time you stroll through your neighborhood on a spring day or through a beautiful garden stop and consider: Helene “Babe” Newman who was called to heaven to be alongside the love of her life, husband of 47 years, Jesse David Newman on Wednesday, August 18th 2021 at the age of 99.
The simplest pleasures made Helene’s life more fulfilling. If she wasn’t busy tending to her garden or her collections of bromeliads and orchids, one could find her walking the neighborhood with one of her beloved dogs; Goldie, Rambo or Oliver. While offering friendly smiles to passers by and purposefully taking clippings of her neighbors unguarded plants (to later be displayed proudly as newly cultivated members of her landscape) she would make a point to make new friends or welcome new members of her community.
Helene took great pride in being a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Greatgrandmother, Business woman and advocate for many worthy causes. As a Town of Palm Beach resident and later a Town of West Palm Beach resident, she put a premium on service to the community as well as hard work and sharing meaningful time with family and cherished friends. Always full of encouragement and wisdom for the people she cared for, Helene's charming and sunny personality left an impact on everyone she met.
Helene “Babe” Newman is survived by her son Robert Marin, Daughter Lori Schwartz (Kurt), Niece Ellen Oakner (Richard),Grandsons; Jonathan Marin (Kimberly), Jonathan Schwartz (Sarah), Granddaughters; Jennifer Marin and Andie Prince (Mike), Great Grandchildren; Marlin, Wayne, Jonah, Faith, Jesse, and Cameron.
A date and location for a memorial service honoring Helene’s life will be announced within the coming months.
