Beloved husband and father Jerome Cross Long died January 6, 2017. An Army veteran and Eastern Airlines retiree leaves behind grieving hearts and a great emptiness without him.
He was tenderly cared for by his wife, Vicky, after suffering a stroke in 2013. He is preceded in death by his daughter Margaret Mary 1964-1994. He is survived by his three children, John, Kathryn, Christopher, two granddaughters, (Jade and Haley), two great grandsons (Jackson and Kayden) and numerous nieces and nephews.
It is difficult to put into words the immense love and respect we have for our dad who was devoted to his faith and his family. He gave us a wonderful childhood and instilled an upbringing in us that we can be proud of. Jerry was a die-hard Redskins fan, hugely patriotic, lover of classical music, and a deeply devout Catholic. He met his wife Vicky at Dulles International Airport in VA in 1962 where they both worked and were married in 1963. It is with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes that I write about the most wonderful man and Father we will ever know. We love you dad so much.
A private graveside service is planned.
Arrangements under the direction of Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, West Palm Beach, FL.
