It is with great sadness that I express my heartfelt condolences to the late Joe Recarey and his family. He was such a good man and a good friend ! We both started with the Palm Beach Police Department in 1991 and worked on the road together for a few years before I would eventually leave for PBSO and subsequently retire in 2012. He had a great sense of humor and a lively spirit! He will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace my friend.

To the Recarey family,
We were saddened to learn of Joe’s passing. He was a fair, solid, and reliable person who always was there to contribute to the success of our projects with Friday’s. We very much enjoyed the time we worked with him and will hold on to those fond memories. We will keep his family in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.
With our sympathy,

When I worked as a parking control officer I saw Joe many times in the Palm Beach police department. He would walk thru the records department and make the girls laugh ( including me when I would be there). His smile always lit up any room he was in. When it became known that he was engaged to Jennifer you could see how happy he was. Then when his boys were born he was sure to show pictures of them. His passing had hit everyone he knew very hard. May God welcome in his arms & be with his family. Kathy

I had the great pleasure to have worked for Joe . Despite Joe's position, He had a humble and modest approach to his job .He was tremendously generous with his time and had a way of making me feel empowered after our conversations. I was enamored by his unique way of collaborating rather than delegating. He never missed the opportunity to express his gratitude.Joe would frequently tell me "thank you" or "I appreciate that". I found him to be sincere and supportive. In the midst of all the chaos and turmoil Joe always made time for me. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with him. It is with my deepest sympathies that I extend my condolences to his family and friends.

So many good memories working with Joe and Jennifer at the Palm Beach Police Department. Joe was a fearless guy with a big heart.
He was a drug dealers worst enemy. We arrested some dangerous people, and Joe was the guy you wanted with you for back up. Joe
had such a strong positive spirit. Joe is in heaven, but his spirit will live on through his beautiful family. He will never be forgotten.

Jennifer I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Joey!! He was so wonderful and funny! I know that he adored you and his children. I remember when I was first hired at the Town of Palm Beach Police Department. I met him while I was getting my physical at the nurse's office. He introduced himself as "Major Recarey!" That was 1999. He'd said to let him know if I needed help with anything. Just a natural comedian. I can't imagine how your heart aches! I can only send you Love hoping it helps to ease the pain.

Joey was always a pleasure to be around. He was able to make me smile or laugh, especially when he made me the brunt of the story! I remember when I retired from Palm Beach Police, Joey came to my retirement party, even though he had already retired, just so he could poke some fun at me.
We love and miss you Joey!

I was truly saddened to hear about Joe passing away. He was a great person and a wonderful police officer!
He made me laugh so much with his particular sly sense of humor. I always wanted to see the next new impression he came up with but was always a little worried he may have picked me for his next impersonation. He gave the best radio calls at night from the parking garage rooftops.
My thoughts and prayers go to Jennifer, his children and family members.
