Sunny McCall, 84 years old, of Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida to Melvin and Laura Brown on Valentine’s Day 1937, Sunny grew up in the north end of West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach and graduated from Palm Beach High School. Her first job was with GMAC. Sunny married Ray McCall on November 29 of 1956 and they welcomed a son “Rusty” about a year later and a daughter Kelley a few years after. Around 1980, she returned to GMAC to continue her career where she eventually retired as the branch secretary. Family was always first but friends were just like family. The McCalls had a lot of honorary cousins, aunts, and uncles. The dinner table for Sunny’s family of four was always set as a table for six and she usually had to add a chair before finishing. She fed the neighborhood and everyone was always welcome. Sunny was very proud of being a multiple generation Floridian from the Moore side of her family and was also proud of her ties to Fitzgerald, GA from the Browns. She had a memory of the family tree as big as the Angle Oak. Sunny loved and cherished Ray, her husband of 64 years who is also a multiple generation Floridian. She was a fabulous wife, a wonderful mother, the best grandmother, a great friend to very many, and a secretary.
Sunny was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Laura Brown; her daughter Kelley McCall Townsend; and two granddaughters Laura and Tara Townsend.
She is survived by her husband Ray; son Rusty and grandson Ryan.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s or your favorite charity. But, she did love roses.
