He is survived by his brothers Chris (Jong Suk), Nick, and Greg (Margo) Marking, his sister Raissa Marking, his sister-in-law Cathy Marking, and several nephews and nieces. He follows into the next world his father Kasper, his mother Jamie, and his brother Tom.
Tim was born on March 6, 1958 in Mount Vernon, WA. After his first few idyllic years running free on a 30-acre farm in the hills not far from his birthplace, he embarked with his family on a series of moves around the country - to Marquette, MI, Kennewick, WA, Minot, ND, and Sioux City, IA. He attended high school in Sioux City, at Bishop Heelan, where he graduated in 1976. He afterward enrolled at Plymouth State College in New Hampshire, double majoring in Art and English. He was a proud member of the Phi Beta Upsilon fraternity, and served as its president his senior year.
Tim fell in love with Florida while traveling there for Spring Break during college, and after graduation from PSC in 1982 he moved to South Florida and never left. With a friend he founded and for a time operated a business designing t-shirts.
Since 1990 he had been working for the public relations firm Multi Image Group in Boca Raton, most recently as Creative Director. Tim was a bright, funny, sincere man. Crediting the art lessons his parents sent him to from early childhood, he was a talented artist, with a taste for sword and sorcery comics and satirical political cartoons. He loved speculative fiction as well, and regularly participated in the South Florida Writers Group annual short story contest, winning its second prize in 2005.
For his love of fiction he especially thanked his mother Jamie, recalling how she would gather her six children together each night to read them stories when they were growing up.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that you make donations to Feed the Children and the ASPCA, in his memory.
