AVIS DE DÉCÈS
4 janvier 1947 – 8 juin 2021
Anita lived a life full of energized service, earning her the nickname “The Energizer Bunny.” She rose to and exceeded any challenge presented. Anita will be remembered for her welcoming smile, warm laughter, and dedication to callings in Sunday School, Relief Society, Young Women, and especially her beloved Primary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Anita also loved her many years of service as a Temple Worker at the Jordan River Temple. Her love, devotion, and testimony were felt and will be remembered by many.
Family was her #1 priority, with words of encouragement, cheerleading at every event, Sunday family meals, many wienie roasts, sewing projects, and as much travel as possible. She was a vital part of Brock’s Produce and spent many summers planting, harvesting, and selling farm fresh vegetables at three West Valley road-side stands. Many young people in the area got her autograph on their first paychecks.
After a years-long battle with dementia, Anita departed this mortal existence June 8, surrounded by her family. Anita is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Fred; sons Greg (Pixie), Shane W; daughters Kristin Haroldsen (Cory), and Ashley; brothers Larry (Carol), Rendell (Yvonne); sisters Carol (Paul), Susan (David), Marla, sister-in-law Sherrie, and her six “amazing” grandchildren: Zach, Anika, Brisa, Paislee, Tabitha, and Lorelai. She is now reunited with her son Thomas Lynn “Tommy”, father Lawrence Clark Etherington, mother Marianne Elisabeth Arlt, grandson Robert “Robbie” Haroldsen, and brother Robert “Bob” Etherington.
The family would like to thank Valeo Home Health and Hospice for all the love, care, and support they shared with us these last months. Angie, Jolene, Dave, Lisa, and Kelly, your care and comfort made our journey through this challenging time survivable. The care and attention you gave made you honorary members of our family.
A viewing will be held Sunday, June 13 at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Services will be held Monday, June 14 at the Jordan North 2nd Ward Building: 4270 South Falcon Street, West Valley City, UT with a viewing from 10:00 – 10:45 am, Family Prayer from 10:45 – 11:00 am, and funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Valley View Memorial Park.

Today I attended Anita's funeral. It was such a wonderful celebration of her life. Thank you for the beautiful musical numbers. Not to single anyone out, Shane your voice with your sister really touched my heart. I lost my mother to Dementia as well. It is a mean disease on the whole family. My condolences to all the family.

I was 10 years old when Fred and Anita were married, and I remember so many family members were very excited that he had found such a sweet, pretty, nice girl with a beautiful smile. I thought she was just terrific even then. I did not ever hear a harsh word or receive a harsh look from Anita. She could not have been nicer to me, along with Fred, all my life. Oh, the days of the produce stands with all the corn we could eat, fresh in summer, and from the freezer in winter. And the fun of U-Pick Tomatoes!!! Well, I didn’t have to do the hardest work farming part of it, just shucking and picking—THEN EATING!!! Everybody—Fred’s family and Glen’s family as Brock Brothers partners—all other cousins and aunts and uncles—lots of memories include the hard work of the Brock legacy passed down from Great Grandpa Herman —mixed with laughs—remember cutting up sides of beef in Grandpa’s cold garage? With Grandma making soup to thaw us out!! Well, Anita will be sorely missed, along with those who stepped through the veil before now, including Clyde. I am grateful for the sure and certain knowledge through the sure and certain witness of the Holy Ghost that there were many open arms to welcome Anita into the paradise prepared for the righteous.
