Wendell, or Wend, as he was called by his brothers and sisters, was born August 4, 1923, to Arthur Glen and Theora Christine Anderson. He married Carol Sparks on October 22, 1947. They were married for 69 years.
He was a loving husband, brother and a great dad. He taught us all the true meaning of working hard and the way to love others by the way he treated his wife, Carol.
He held many jobs in his life, including; sheep herder, growing crops, and packing parachutes for World War ll. He was a mechanic on the big KCC trucks for almost 30 years. He retired from KCC, and then worked security for Burns, usually at the ATK facility in West Valley. He was proud to serve his country in World War ll as a supply officer and then the paratroops. He was also a scout master for many, many years, and helped many scouts earn their Eagle award, including his own three sons.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, road trips, snow skiing, and any time spent with family. And boy could he tell some good stories from his life! Stories about hauling ice, broken bones, tonsil operations in the parlor, Indian head penny and buffalo nickel westerns. He loved the 240 acres of land that the family purchased and tried to farm which is still owned by the family.
He is survived by his wife Carol, their children Terry (Denice) Anderson, Les (Judy) Anderson, Pam (Ken) Cazier, Greg (Jill) Anderson, sister Dorothy (Max) Ostler, brother Merril (Cherrill) Anderson, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary (Perry) Peel, brother Clair Anderson, and brother Forrest (Doris) Anderson. A great reunion is going on right now on the other side.
Wendell passed away April 26th following a rough two weeks since breaking his hip. Our husband, dad, grandfather, brother and uncle will be missed by all of us who were fortunate to know him. Rest in peace and we love you.
