Arthur David LeFevre was born March 31, 1954 to Kenneth E. LeFevre and Ruth Bernice Cowan. He was the second (and most stubborn) of 5 children. He graduated from Viewmont High School and went on to serve a mission in Alberta Canada. Here he developed a love of the Lamanite people, and for arctic temperatures. Nothing was ever cold enough for him.
Shortly after that he was working at Skaggs where he met his Princess Lea, Lurlene Woodruff. After only 2 weeks they knew they were meant to be together. He even lost a bet to a brand-new car because he knew he couldn’t wait to marry the love of his life. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1976. From then on, he never left her side. They did everything together. Family was everything to him.
Art’s other loves included baseball and cars. Every weekend you could find him fixing someone’s car in the driveway. He wasn’t big on instructions; he always had his own way of doing things. In the end though it always got fixed. Never once did he ask for payment, he loved serving others in any way he could. He also loved the Braves. His favorite player was Dale Murphy. Imagine his surprise after following him all those years to have him ride his bus during the Olympics. He never made it to an official game, but he got his autograph! He always tried to make any kid a southpaw, but unfortunately never got his way. He played many years with the ward and UTA softball team as well. We also can’t forget to mention his unique love of ‘horsey’ sauce. He thought that should be a staple with every meal. He considered it to be just as American as baseball.
He worked as a bus driver for UTA for 47 years. Even though it wasn’t official, we consider his 4 million miles of driving complete. He was probably the most social driver you ever met. He could talk to a complete stranger like he knew them all of his life. For some that was odd, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. He had many lingos that only the family knew, we will sure miss his talk in codes.
Art was the best at telling stories. The older he got, the bigger they got. He was always inquisitive, so much so that we got him an Alexa so he would stop asking us every question that we didn’t have an answer for. Even then, everything to him was illogical. We’re grateful he can now make sense of it all even though we will miss him immensely.
Dad was one of the most OCD people we knew. There was always an order for everything. He refused to have a dishwasher because he could get it to sparkle more, and anytime there was a dirty dish in the sink he would stop to wash it. Mom was a lucky woman!
He was the epitome of punctuality and military was the only true time. He would talk like he had even been in the army sometimes. His motto was “Get in and get it done!” Now he can keep time in heaven, and help it go fast dad until we meet again!
Art is survived by his wife Lurlene, daughters Jill Woodhead (Jeff), Lara Frank (Zach), Marissa Knowlden (Ralph). 5 grandchildren; Carter & Brennan Woodhead, Natalie & Logan Frank, and Morgana Knowlden. Siblings Ken LeFevre, Kim (Kate) LeFevre, Beckie (Bob) Lindsay, Kathy (Zach) Bullock. In-laws Woody Woodruff, Don Woodruff, Rob (Susan) Woodruff, Mark (Jen) Woodruff, Julie (Kevin) McPhee. Art always said if he won the lottery he would donate to St. Jude’s, and Wounded Warriors. In lieu of flowers, please help his wishes come true.
