Born on April 17, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Everett Palmer Johnson and Florence Coon Nielsen, Arva lived each day with grace, warmth, and generosity that touched everyone around her.
Arva was the heart of our family—her unwavering love and guidance shaped our lives. She was known for her loving, kind spirit, her passion for family, and the nurturing care she extended to everyone she met. Arva’s compassion and kindness enriched the lives of friends, neighbors, and her community.
She is survived by her loving husband Larry after 55 years of marriage; children Cindy Johnson (Mark), Debbie Harrington (Dale), Ted Twiss (Twila), Gary Twiss, Jeff Twiss (Jodi), and Mike Druce; 35 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and 2 on the way; as well as countless friends and neighbors whose lives were brightened by her presence. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred Madden, her brother Dell Johnson, and her stepfather Lynn Nielsen, all of whom she held dear in her memories.
Arva enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, including sewing, embroidery, card games, board games, bowling, and making birthday cards. In her later years, she found great passion for writing poetry. Arva was also an active member of B.P.O.E and Wasatch Wagons, embracing community and fellowship throughout her life.
A service to celebrate Arva’s remarkable life will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Valley View Memorial Park at 2:00pm, 4335 W. 4100 S. WVC, Utah 84102. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather beginning at 12:30 pm to 2:00 PM to share memories with services to follow.
Arva will remain forever cherished in our hearts and memories. May she rest in peace.
“Glad to have some warmer weather here, we’ll go outside and enjoy the sun, run around and have some fun. The grass and trees will both turn green, creating a beautiful scene. And when the flowers start to bloom, we’ll enjoy their sweet perfume. Yes, it’s springtime here at last and when summer comes, we’ll have a blast!” ~ Arva Druce
