Cal was the best father in law I could have ever asked for. He loved without hesitation. He took care of those he loved. One time we were in Hawaii and on our way back they wouldn’t accept my ID at the airport because it was the temporary paper ID that Utah issues. My old one was expired and the lady kept refusing to take it. Finally, Cal just came over and walked me through without asking permission or questions. He was tired of me being hassled and came in to help. I don’t know how our lives will be without him so involved but I know mine is better because I had him in it for a time. Love you Cal! I miss you! 

Cal was one of the most genuine people I have ever met. I can't think of a time that I haven't seen him with a smile on his face. He smiled with his eyes, which is the most genuine smile you can get!! Anytime I came in contact with him he was always the first to say "Hi" and would ALWAYS ask about me and my family with a genuine curiosity as to how we were doing. He always made me feel like part of the family even though I was Cassie's sister. He cheered for my little Jack at every soccer and T-ball game that he and Mikey shared. Jack thought Cal was just another one of his grandpas! Jack actually called him grandpa once and as I went to correct him Cal jumped in saying, "That's okay, I can be your grandpa too!" With a little chuckle and a kind smile to follow. I don't think I've ever met a nicer man than Cal. He was honestly one of the most genuine souls I have ever met. It will be IMPOSSIBLE not to miss him!

Everyone in my family knows that I am the one that doesn't remember anything, so the last 60 years with Cal are all blended together. I wanted to share a memory and, yes, I do have a few, but the thing that stuck out in my mind, heart and when thinking about Cal was that, "He was THERE." 
Yes, he was there when we got married - so little and cute - and having so much fun. He was there to come to the Thomas' house on the 4th of July and the Magna Parade. He was there to all the Priesthood Conference nights of donut making, wanting to be there and see everyone and he was probably the only one to eat just one donut. Until recently, Cal, his family, Paul and I spent Christmas Eve together enjoying some Christmas traditions of opening one gift the night before. He loved cherry chocolates and we tried to give him a small box every year (diabetes), but he would make that box last for 6 months. 
Cal was there at every missionary farewell, and homecoming. He was there for weddings, birthdays and reunions. So I guess the best thing I can say about Cal was he was there for me. Always. He showed up. I hope we can all do the same for our family and friends. BE THERE! How that boy will be missed!

I have known Cal since we were in elementary. He has always had a big heart and a contagious smile. So many great memories I will cherish forever! Praying for his family and friends to get through such a hard time.Bless you Cal for bringing so much love and happiness to this world!

Cal was one of the best neighbors. I enjoyed living by him and FranCine when I was growing up. I appreciated and loved his wonderful spirit and smile. Thank you for always being a great friend!

I have had the honor of working with Cal for the last 16 years. It has been such a great time. Every morning when he arrived at work with a big smile. He was always happy and made me smile when he would deliver my checks to me in the morning! He always helped the Party Committee when needed. I will miss him very much. As my heart is heavy, Cal will never be forgotten only missed a lot.

Richard and I have had the pleasure of having Cal in our lives since he started dating my sister. What an amazing person. He is the perfect example of love, service, friendship, faith and finding joy in every day. There hasn't been a single time that he didn't greet us both in person or on the telephone with a cheerful "Hi, how are you?" He even said this the last time we saw him, which was just a few days before he left us. He treated our children from the beginning as if they were his own. He loved being around our family and made sure he spoke to each one as he entered the room and called them by name. Words cannot express the genuine person he was. He was not a brother-in-law to us, but more like another brother. He truly showed us the pure love of Christ.

I have worked with Cal for around 20 years at Utah Housing. He was an outstanding human being. He was kind and considerate and was always willing to help. We talked many times and he had a great sense of humor which I will miss.

Cal was one of those people that knew how to make everyone around him feel loved and special. I remember the first time I met him we were sledding the day after Christmas with my girlfriend's (now wife's family), and he was seriously the happiest guy I'd ever met! He was so kind to me. His smile was always so genuine and so big. It really was impossible to walk away from him without feeling better about yourself. He will be missed, but he will always be remembered by countless lives that he touched.

Cal will be greatly missed. He always had the most pleasant demeanor and such a loving presence. Every time I saw him, without fail, he greeted me with kindness, and made easy conversation. He was such a sweet Papa Xhaxhi to my little nephews and cared about them very much. I am so sad Cal is no longer with us, but I am sending all my thoughts and prayers to the Corbridge family in this time of grieving.

My sympathies to the Corbridge family. I came to know Cal through my parents who always spoke so highly of Cal and what a good man he was. He was always kind and generous with his time and service and was an excellent role model for his children.

When I think of Cal Corbridge these simple words come to mind..."Be of good cheer." 
Cal was the most kind and whole-hearted person I know. He always had a friendly smile and a happy greeting whenever we saw him. Our last family Halloween party he dressed up as Captain America. That made me smile because Cal truly is a super hero of kindness and had a great ability to strengthen and lift those around him. I am sure he continues to lift, serve and love those on the other side of the veil. 
We are blessed to be able to share are grandsons Mikey and Mason with Cal and FranCine. They have raised a wonderful family and we love you all so much. Please know that there are many prayers being offered for your wonderful family today and in the days ahead. We love you FranCine; Robbie and Cassie; Kevin and Ann Marie; and Caleb. I have wonderful memories of Cal from our early days at First Security. He truly is a special man. I am so sorry for your loss. Remember the bright times.

My heart breaks for the Corbridge family. Cal is a special person and I have wonderful memories of growing up with him. I won't be able to attend the funeral, but please know that I love your family and pray for your peace and comfort at this difficult time.

I have so many great memories getting to know Cal at my mom's work. He always went out if his way to get to know me and say hello. I've known Cal and his family for most of my life and I will miss him. 

I have grown up knowing Cal.  He was so awesome and was always interested in what I was doing.  I wish I could have seen him when I got back from military training.  He was so excited for me when I joined.  I will never forget Comic Con and waiting with Rob to get a picture with Stan Lee.  It was an amazing day.  Cal always treated me just like I was one of his boys! I will miss you Cal. 

Dear Cal, I wonder how your'e doing on your new adventure.  Probably catching up on old times with those you haven't seen in awhile. I'm sure you will have a lot to talk about.  Hugs, kisses, laughter and crying. The memories  I will miss and cherish are the camp outs with the scouts and with you. You made such a huge impact on me, my two sons and all the rest of the scouts. We learned things, accomplished goals, built Klondike sleds that some how took 1st place on a number of occasions.  We hiked, fished, cooked stuff that resembled food, sweltered in the heat, froze in the cold but with all that, the best part was we had fun. Some of the best places we went were: Condie Meadows (van got stuck); winter camp out @ Grant's cabin (van got stuck) again; south end of Utah Lake - I know your van was full of kids as was mine, it was cold; getting eaten alive with the Antelope Island zombie bugs; watching our sons repel from White Rocks for the first time, then we did it; and Hardware Ranch! The list goes on and on. You were always so positive with anything that you were asked to do. Thank you for letting us be part of your life. You are remarkable. And thank you FranCine, Rob, Kevin and Caleb for sharing your husband and father with us.

I've spent the past week thinking about Cal and the time that I've known him. In almost ten years of working together, I could not recall a single day when Cal wasn't cheerful, optimistic, and positive. Sometimes, you wonder if people like this are real. But with Cal, it was real; it was genuine Cal. We should all be so lucky to be remembered as well as Cal is. He could find the joy and positive in anything.  I have always been in awe and envy at the amount of energy Cal had. He lived life with gusto!
     To Cal's family, grief is inevitable. Likened to the remains of a broken ship upon stormy waters, you cling to the rocks as each wave of grief and pain overcome you. But as time passes, you find that you gain more strength to withstand the pounding of the waves. Clinging to each other, you find that over time, the waves will still be there, but will come less frequently and seem to have less force. It will always be there, but that reminds us that you lived with a wonderful man, husband and father and that his memory and legacy will live on. Keep Cal's memory present with you as you move forward; forward with Cal. So many lives have been touched for the better because of our association with Cal, even brief moments. I am a better man because of my association with him.  Anyone who knew Cal can never forget him, and he will move on with us as well because of the influence he had in our lives.   
     




And to Cal, the lack of your presence and optimistic  happy attitude is palpable here at work, and could never be replaced. You are loved -

To Cal's family,  
I'm not sure I've worked with anyone kinder or more compassionate than Cal.  We do not work in the same area or even on the same floor, but when Cal found out I was having hip surgery, he sought me out with advice and reassurance that all would go well.  When my daughter was serving her mission, he sought me out weekly to see how she was doing and how I was doing, missing my only child. He gave me advice to help her when I worried and was a wonderful friend to all of us at Utah Housing. He touched all our lives. 





 A wise man once told me, "You can only take the pain out of death if you take the love out of life."....Cal was well loved. We all miss him. God bless you and your family.  

I have had the honor to work with Cal for the past 15 years. He has been someone that I could talked to and argue with. He was my best friend. Everyday when he came into work we would talk about our grandkids and kids.  He was so proud of his. He loved them so much. One day I had brought my girls into work and they saw Cal and talked to him and they saw he was not eating lunch so they went home, made him a tuna sandwich and chips, and brought it back to him for lunch and he never forgot that. My girls really loved Cal. He was so good to them every time they came in. I also miss his singing. I miss him everyday.     





I will never forget this wonderful man that I have had the honor to know.

He was  truly genuine and a friend to everyone who met him. With his infectious smile, how could you not just love him? He was a big part of scouting and introduced Dan into it. When we were at Curtis Newman's wedding reception I saw FranCine and said "you're leaving already?" She said, "Yes. You know I can't stay up late (early morning shift), but I'm waiting for Cal he loves to talk with everyone. He's my social butterfly." And we laughed but that's just who he was. He loved you boys and would share his proud dad moments all the time. We are so lucky to have known him and been friends with your family. You all are truly great people and know we love you and are sending you comfort during this time. He made such an impact here on Earth that they needed him to do the same in Heaven.

Cal & I worked side by side at Utah Housing for over 10 years.  During that time we laughed a lot, cried a little and talked about everything under the sun.  You did not have to be around Cal for long to appreciate how important his boys were to him.  Rob, Kevin & Caleb, your dad was so proud of you and his face lit up every time he spoke of you.  Cal was kind to everyone and frequently asked me if he could get me a Diet Coke when he sensed I was having a bad day. Cal loved to listen to music at the office. I have many fond memories of him tapping his feet to The Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and Elton John while we worked. Thank you Cal for your friendship, advice and especially all the laughs.  Your laugh is one of the things I am going to miss most about you.

I'll remember Cal as a calm, polite,and patient man.  I think of him when Kevin was helping Uncle Tom replace the engine in his truck. Cal came to watch Kevin learn.  You could see the pride in his face as he watched Kevin really dig in and help. 
I cut Cal's hair for a few years and we had very good and tender conversations.
He was always respectful of his mother, Carl and Helen.
I will miss his laugh and presence.

Cal loved to dress up on Halloween. This particular year the theme was Mardi Gras. Cal, Brett and I dressed up as Bourbon Street. We laughed for weeks as we thought of all the "stuff" we could add to the costume to really depict how the street looks after the festivities. We won funniest costume that year. We had so much fun every halloween!

I had the privilege of knowing Cal for a short 3 years but in those short years he made a lasting impression. I don't know if I will ever meet another person who was so genuinely and effortlessly positive. He instantly made me feel welcome and a part of the UHC family and I will always be grateful for that. I will definitely miss his smiling face and positive attitude. Judging by the other memories and thoughts shared, one of my favorite quotes  seems rather fitting for our friend Cal... Cal was a very happy soul and he will truly be missed.  I will miss his smile, good attitude and him saying that he loved the home made quilts that we raffled off.  We had a program in our servicing area that if he did good deeds and was recognized  ( which was easy for him) he would earn  a ticket and one of the prizes was a quilt that he wanted to win.  Well he didn't win but I made him a quilt and the expression he gave me was priceless.  So happy to have known him and call him my friend.  Here is a saying that epitomizes Cal's memory:  "It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.  A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane, we'd walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again.  In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill."  I know that you are happy and that we will meet again. Keep smiling and do what you do best. 


Well done thou good and faithful servant....when one of our loved ones leave this mortal existence it leaves a void, but when one of our loved ones leave this mortal existence and has been faithful and performed acts of service their entire life, there are many great memories to fill our hearts and reflect on.  I am grateful for Cal and his dedication especially to the youth.  He was a great leader, example and friend to my son Curtis and I will always treasure that he gave of himself to teach and help the youth.  He was a hero in his own way and our world needs heroes to look up to.  His legacy will live on forever.  Thank you Cal...may your family find comfort in the knowledge of the gospel and remember that the time is short that they will be able to be with you again.....Chris Newman

I remember spending a night at the Corbridge home prior to an early-morning flight to Europe with Caleb the next day. I loved Cal’s sense of humor as he teased me about spending the night in their ‘rough’ part of the city. The next morning Cal gave us goodie bags for our long journey. I could feel the atmosphere of kindness cultivated by Cal and his family.

The Corbridge family have been one of our favorites through the years.  They are one of the first families we met when we moved into the Hunter 36th Ward in 1986.  Cal and FranCine were  down to earth and we enjoyed activities like camping, dinners and a concert or two with them.  Cal had such a great smile and warm heart.   He was always positive and uplifting.  We were lucky enough to visit for an hour with Cal upon his return home after his bypass surgery.   Little did we know he would be gone so soon.  We miss you Cal and send love to FranCine and Rob, Kevin & Caleb !!!!! 

Cal and I loved to talk about movies, super heroes and (especially) Star Trek. I feel like he was a kindred spirit, which made going to work more enjoyable. He always made my day brighter when we got to sit down and talk. He was a really great guy and a dear friend. I hope I will be able to see him again. Thank you, Cal. 

Cal was a loved member of the Utah Housing family.

Cal had a great influence in my life personally even though I was just his son’s sister-in-law. He cared deeply about every relationship he had and that was evident in his interactions at family parties and whenever we would see him.  The summers Cassie (my sister), and brother-in-law, Rob (Cal’s son), would invite me to play soccer with them were a blast! Cal would come often to those scrimages and encourage us, cheer us on and start conversations with everyone. He was so much fun to talk to and offered a warm welcome whenever I would see him! He would say “Hello!” and offer a loving and sincere hug! He made me happy every time I saw him and I am so grateful to have known him in this life and look forward to when we all get to see him again after this life. Colten and I send our warmest love and sympathies at this time to the Corbridge family and everyone who has enjoyed his special influence in their lives. 

Cal was the nicest person and never said an unkind thing! I'll always remember the kindness he showed me and my family as kids growing up. He'd always chase us around and play tag on Sundays during church. He showed us love and support and was always so happy. He took interest in our lives and made me want to be better. Thanks for the memories, and for the kindness you showed us, Cal! You'll live forever in our hearts.

Like my sister, the movies at the drive-in were some of my favorite memories of Uncle Cal! I am sure that played a part in our family having a love of the movies! Uncle Cal always personally greeted everyone with a "Hi" or a "Hello" and called everyone by name! He was a wonderful uncle and will be missed!

I savor so many wonderful memories in the Corbridge home with Corrie and Cal, as we went through our teenage years together. It was enlightening to read about Cal's accomplishment throughout his life. May the Lord continue to bless his family through this difficult time.

I had the honor and great pleasure of working with Cal for almost 18 years at Utah Housing.  He loved helping people & he was darn good at it.  He relished spending time with our IT folks figuring out problems.  I loved it when he would tell them  “Well, if I was blue skying it, I would like to see this...”  - many times they did it just for him.

When we traveled together he would take this small brown leather suitcase with a handle.  The first time I saw it I asked him where the rest of his things were...he patted his suitcase and said he had everything he needed right there.  He needed very little for himself.  I do remember he had a hard time fitting the Coldwater Creek jacket he picked out for FranCine into that little suitcase though! He agonized over picking just the right jacket to bring home for her.

Cal watched my two kids grow up during our time together at Utah Housing.  When Megan graduated from the U and Ethan went to boot camp, Cal came to my office & told me I was going to be ok & that the kids leaving would get easier with time.  He should know because he raised 3 self sufficient, talented, fantastic men. 

Robbie, Cal, Ethan & I spent a great afternoon at Comic-Con to see Stan Lee & listen to Star Trek speakers - it was the BEST DAY EVER! He frequently asked about the kids & was so excited when he heard about things they were doing. 

A favorite memory was when Cal, myself and several people we worked with went to see the Star Trek movie with Chris Pine & at the end of that movie, when the Enterprise rises from the clouds, I looked over at Cal & his excitement was palatable.  We talked about that movie until people thought we were Trek nerds...and we were & we loved it. 

Cal loved his Heavenly Father and he led his life to serve.  He loved his family and was always so proud of his boys and his grandkids - you could see it in his eyes and hear it in his words every time he spoke of them. I will miss him so very much. 

I remember his welcoming smile every time we came to visit the ward. He had a loving way of making us feel at home. He will be missed.

Cal was such a good man! I will never forget the countless hours on scout camps playing cards in the van as we drove to our destination. There were numerous occasions that one of us boys were mistaken as his own with a swat to the butt in the door of the van with a request for a Diet Coke. He was a great example of kindness and love. He was a leader that you truly knew was there for you. He was always on the sideline of sport games. He always kept us humble and helped us remember to be sportsman-like. 





On more than one occasion he would talk to us at half time and remind us we needed to cool it down a little. He will be missed and he has left a great legacy! Thanks for raising great boys to associate with and call my friends! We love you Cal. 

Cal always had a smile and was genuinely glad to see you. Of the four grandparents to Barrett & Clara, Cal was always the first one to get on the floor and play with the little ones. He just loved being with his grandbabies.

Cal was such a wonderful man. I loved him like a brother. I enjoyed all the scout camps and activities I had with Cal. He loved the youth so much and would do anything for them. I will miss all the talks I had with Cal over Diet Coke. My son Scott still reminds me of the story of getting left in Moroni durning the pageant. Something needs to be said about the wonderful men that FranCine and Cal raised. I love you guys - Robert, Kevin and Caleb. Losing Cal is a great loss to the world but the heavens are rejoicing. FranCine please let me know if I can do anything for you or your great family. 

I don’t remember a time when the Corbridge’s weren’t our neighbors. My siblings and I grew up playing with the Corbridge boys. Every time I ever ran into Cal he had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. There were many years as a teenager that I would drive by and Cal would offer a wave and a smile. I can see it so clearly and each time I go back to my parents house I will miss that. Every time I was greeted by Cal he made you feel like the most important person in that moment. He will be truly missed. Sending love to FranCine and the boys. 

My memories of Cal make me think of a smiling, happy person who never had a bad day.  He was genuinely friendly, sincere and  loving. I loved seeing him at church and knowing that he would always have a smile and a friendly word.  I will never forget his example of friendliness  and caring to all he came in contact with.  His sons are the finest legacy a man could have and an obvious reflection of his loving fatherhood.   After we moved from the ward, I was always so glad to run into him and FranCine in the neighborhood sometimes and I will truly miss seeing him.  May each of you feel our loving Father's arms around you and feel the comfort that surpasses all understanding.  There are few Hunter 6th Ward alumnis he can join over there in paradise; I bet they needed a wonderful kind person like Cal to help them continue the work going on over there.  He is the perfect man for the job.  I will miss him and will never forget him!  Love you Corbridge family!!

It was a pleasure for us to get to know Cal after the wards were realigned and the Corbridges  became part of the Hunter 6th Ward.  Cal was such a sincere, humble and caring man that it was easy to grow to love him and enjoy being around him.  He served faithfully in his various callings and was always one to render service whenever there was a need.  Cal had many great qualities that we all could strive to emulate.  We extend our love and sympathy to FranCine and the entire family.

Cal has been our friend for many, many years. My children remember him playing tag with them in the hall after church. He was a young men and scout leader to my two sons. He and FranCine took care of our dog Duke a few times when we were out of town. He gave them fits, but Cal just laughed and always asked about Duke after that. Duke was almost as much a part of his family as he was ours. He was very sad when Duke died, too. 
We truly love Cal. He is such a genuine, gentle, loving soul. Such a good man. He would do anything for anyone. We love you Corbridge family. God bless you at this time. Heaven has gained a giant of a man. We will miss him here, but we know he will wait to meet us with open arms in the not too distant future. Peace to you all - Families are Forever. 

I never knew Cal, but Rob, Cal’s son, was my mission companion for 1/3 of my mission. Rob always talked highly of Cal and the lessons Cal taught him growing up. I could tell Cal was a stand-up guy and loved his family.

When I married Cal's niece, Camille, Cal and FranCine were extremely kind and welcoming. We've only met intermittently since I've been in the family, as everyone is busy with large immediate families, but the thing that sticks out to me the most is the kind and open way Cal and FranCine have always had toward me. 

Growing up, whether we (his sons) were having a bad day or he was was, he would hold us and sing “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You never know, (Rob/Kevin/Caleb), how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away.” His love was unconditional and emulated that of the Savior’s. One of the many cherished memories I have of this is returning home as a ‘prodigal’ son and having him embrace me while he sung the lyrics which pierced my heart to its very core with the amount of love he had for me. I hope to be the man he was. 

It's rare that you have a friend whose dad is cooler than his son (Rob). Cal was that dad. Though my interactions with Cal were minimal, they were clearly impactful. He taught my wife and I how to play BANG! When Rob and I had some free time from SLCC we would go over and watch Dexter with Cal (while all the wives were gone of course). He was calculated, funny, and overall an amazing person. 

Cal is a superhero. I don’t know of many sons who look up to their Dad as much as his sons do. I am so honored to have known him and been a recipient of his kindness, wisdom, and welcoming heart. One of my favorite memories of Cal is when he caught my friends and I toilet papering the Corbridge home. He told us that Rob was in the hospital and therefore wouldn’t see all of the hard work we put in destroying the yard. Instead of being upset at us during what I’m sure was a stressful time for him, he was so kind, friendly and even joked and laughed with us as we all cleaned up the yard. Cal is one of the most genuine people I know and always sees the best in others. He will be so missed. 

A few years ago I was lucky enough to be on the Corbridge/Thomas/Solberg indoor soccer team. Cal was our biggest fan and was at every game cheering us on.

I enjoyed working with Cal at First Security. He was a hard worker, always in good spirits and helping everyone. He was a good man, loved people and helped all who needed it or wherever he saw a need. I am lucky to have Cal and FranCine as neighbors and in the same ward. Cal and FranCine welcomed me back to church and have been great friends for many, many years. Cal will be missed by all.

Cal was the nicest guy ever. Growing up I spent a lot of time with his sons and I always looked up to Cal and how good of a dad he was. 

When Kevin and Anne got married the parents (us, Cal and Francine) were tasked with setting up the hall for the reception. Anne wanted some decorations hung and things were not going well and Deb said to Cal, "You've got to have faith" and Cal exclaimed, "Don't worry I have plenty of it."

Cal was always so kind and funny! He always would share with me stories of his kids and family, it was very clear how much he loved them. And always his stories made me laugh.

I remember Cal being so inviting whenever I visited. Rob and I were best friends in high school so we spent a lot of time at his house. Cal was always so positive and always made us laugh. I’m thankful for those memories. I love the Corbridge family. 

When Uncle Cal was working the at the 
drive-in, he would call my parents and let them know he was working.  He was usually working the booth and would let us in for free.  One of the best things for a family of 7 who didn't get to many movies.  As soon as the movie would start he would find us and bring a big bag of popcorn from the concessions stand.  He would watch the movie with us for a minute and get back to work.  He shared his love of movies with us and gave us an opportunity to do something we may not have been able to do otherwise.

I also remember the day that he married my Aunt, and became part of our family.  

Robbie, Kevin and Caleb, your Dad was an amazing man, and he will be so missed! 

Cal always came to work with a smile on his face. Anytime I started a conversation out with “So” he would start singing “sew a needle pulling thread”.  His positivity and zest for life will forever be missed.
