Charles Wallace Saunders

On Saturday July 9th, 2022 Charles Wallace Saunders 66, graduated from this mortal realm. His physical and emotional struggles in life were very real every day. Charlie possessed many strong attributes. One of them was the will to live, which lasted up to the very end. Unfortunately, the effects from Covid 19 became more that his body could fight.

Charlie was born June 13, 1956 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada to very loving parents, William Park Saunders, and Elizabeth Hodge both from Scotland.. His parents raised him with a great love for Scottish ancestry. It was a fear of his to start kindergarten because his older brother was sent to school in a Scottish kilt and jacket for his first three days of kindergarten. Charlie was going to have no part of that. Charlie spend his childhood living in American Fork Utah, the remainder in the Salt Lake Valley.

Charlie loved being a free spirit from a very young age. He was full of life! He embraced life and fun to the fullest! He loved Harley Davidson’s and fishing. He was very social. He has many friends. He was very talented at what he put his mind to do. He learned the art of home building from his father. He had a cement foundation business. Sadly, he was involved in an accident that left him a quadriplegic at the age of 30. Learning how he could function each day in what was now his new life and deal with his emotions was always a battle. As a family we are so grateful for everyone who was in his life that helped him meet these daily challenges. Thank you. Charlie’s creative mind moved him to design a custom Ford T-bucket. With the help of many, this car turned out to be a beauty and was a treasure to him. Charlie was compassionate to others. If he was capable of helping, he never held back.

Charlie is survived by 4 wonderful children: Shane Record, Juston, Jessica (Bier), and Cory; 3 wives, Darlene Miller (Loggins)(D), Jolene Everill, (Daley) (D), Martha Hunt (D), 8 grandchildren, living siblings are Richard, Anne (Harrison), and Neil. Charlie is preceded in death by his father William Park Saunders, and his daughter, Summer (England).

Charlie’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a graveside gathering on August 13th, 9:00 A.M. at Valley View Memorial Cemetery, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley, Utah. All are invited!
