Cora Lee Johnson Hansen

November 29, 1946 – May 16, 2014

Cori Hansen, 67, passed away suddenly, surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, May 16, 2014.

Cori was born November 29, 1946, in American Fork, Utah to Eliza Jane Thatcher and Fred Dunn Johnson. She married her best friend, Dan Hansen, on July 16, 1965, and they were sealed as a family for time and all eternity in the Ogden, Utah Temple on December 10, 1975.

Cori is a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her number one priority in life was family. She loved supporting her family and attended many dance recitals, piano recitals, school plays, track meets, soccer games, basketball games and wrestling matches. She loved to support her grandchildren in everything that they did. Cori was a world traveler and she and Dan loved to travel and see new places. She was an adventurer and was never afraid to try new things, including riding an elephant, petting a tiger, holding a boa constrictor, riding a zip line or going on a 15 mile bike ride with the boy scouts. She loved throwing family parties and always did so with a flare. Cori loved to bake and she made the best bread, cookies, pies, cakes, doughnuts and desserts. You never left her house without taking something to eat with you.

Cori was a kind and generous person, always serving others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved working with and teaching the youth. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and she loved her Savior.

Cori was strong, brave, and courageous. Even though she was sick the last few years, she never let it define who she was. She never complained and she always put the interests of others in front of her own.

Cori is survived by her husband, Dan, three children, Jeff (Christy), West Valley City; Lisa (Kris) Lundell, South Jordan; Danelle (Travis) Davis, Centerville; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister, Sharon Sturgell. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother, Fred Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Ridgeland Ward, 4251 S 4800 W, West Valley City, Utah, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A viewing will be held at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please take your family to have ice cream.
