Dale Ned Smith

1933 ~ 2012

Dale Ned Smith, 79, passed away at home on September 1, 2012 at home in Taylorsville, UT after a courageous battle with cancer.. He was born August 29, 1933 in Allenwood, Pennsylvania to Roy L. and Dorothy B. Smith. Dale married Jacqueline Brown on November 3, 1953 in Magna, Utah, later sealed in the Logan Temple. Dale and Jackie enjoyed 58 wonderful years together.

Dale was raised in rural Pennsylvania near the town of Hughesville and graduated from Hughesville High School in 1951, after which he joined the US Air Force. He spent 12 years in the Air Force and 8 years in the Army, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army in 1972, Dale worked for Hercules, the Salt Lake Bomb Squad, and the US Postal Service.

Dale was a faithful member of the LDS Church where he served in many callings. Dale enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on cars.

Dale is survived by his wife, Jackie; their four children, Randall (Carol) Smith, Ricky (Donna) Smith, Steven (Sharon) Smith and Cheryl Beaton, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Burkhardt, and grandson Clayton Smith.

Funeral services will be Friday September 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Taylorsville LDS Chapel located at 2030 W. Chateau Ave (5225 S) Taylorsville, UT. A viewing will be held Thursday September 6th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Funeral Home 4335 W 4100 S, WVC, UT. Interment Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W 4100 S, WVC, UT.
