She was born on October 18, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Robert and Carolyn Felton. She attended grade school in Colorado before moving to Kimball, Nebraska, in 1973, where she later graduated from Kimball High School in 1983, laying the foundation for a life defined by independence, determination, and hard work.
Debbie faced her diagnosis with remarkable strength, resilience, and determination, holding onto hope and an unwavering desire to get better. If love, grit, and willpower were enough, she would have won a battle that had the odds stacked heavily against her.
She was truly someone to admire — full of life, fiercely independent, stubborn in the way only strong women are, deeply caring, intelligent, and incredibly hardworking. She had an infectious laugh and a loud, unmistakable whistle that those who knew her will never forget.
She loved being active and outdoors, enjoying bike rides and hiking, and she cherished time spent playing games with family and friends — especially Scrabble, Five Crowns, and Uno. She loved traveling and was fortunate to experience many amazing trips that brought her great joy. She was also a die-hard fan of the Utah Utes and the Denver Broncos, cheering passionately and loyally through every season.
She took great pride in her career and loved her job with the University of Utah, where she dedicated herself with the same commitment and work ethic she brought to all areas of her life.
She was the mother of Jennifer Arnold and Daniel Arnold, and a proud grandmother to Landon Arnold, who brought her immense joy and light.
Debbie spent her final days surrounded by love, holding on long enough for those closest to her to say their goodbyes. She passed with her daughter, Jennifer, right by her side — a reflection of the deep love they shared for one another.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Felton, many beloved aunts and uncles, and her grandparents.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Arnold and Daniel Arnold; her grandson, Landon Arnold; her mother, Carolyn Felton; her brother, Alan Felton; her nephew, Zach Felton; and many other loved ones and friends who will miss her dearly.
Though her physical presence is gone, her strength, love, laughter, and spirit live on through those she loved. Her legacy will be carried forward by her family, who will strive every day to make her proud.
