Sunrise August 3, 1950 in Alamosa, Colorado, Sunset June 25, 2023 in West Valley Utah.
She was a daughter of Alfonzo (known as the shoe maker) and Ruby Montano, survived by Sylvia Montano and Nestor Montano of La Jara, Colorado; and Rachel Favela of Avon Colorado.
Her hobbies were spending time with her siblings, and specifically her nieces and nephews. She liked visiting State parks, family gatherings, fishing, camping, and she had a vast knowledge of cars. She was an avid Utah Jazz Fan, and kept up to date on the latest game. She was a life-long Chihuahua lover, and had a big heart for any animal in need. She had so many great qualities and skills.
She moved to West Valley City, Utah after attending Job Corp. Irene lived with her brother Edward and his family. While attending Salt Lake City College she became an EKG Tech. She then started a job with Mountain Bell as a Telephone Operator, and that was the beginning of her profession with telephone companies.
After a successful career of 35 years she retired and became a full-time dog mom. She volunteered at Kearns Senior Center, where she spent much of her time helping her community, and volunteered at the local food shelter to help those in need. She was a wonderful person with a full heart, always willing to help others. She will be missed and remembered as a person who was always laughing and making others laugh. Her wit was undeniable, and her guidance was always filled with wisdom and faith. Even though she did not have any children of her own she was a mother figure to Randy, Tommy, Ruby, Jessica, Amalia and Patricio and grandmother figure to Louis, Xavier, Ruby, Lupita, Chucho, Adaline, Josue, Mark, Ophelia, Gabrielia, and Natalia. There are so many people who benefited from her kindness and generosity. Her love was felt by anyone who was in her life. Although all cannot be named, there is no doubt she will be remembered as a caring and loving individual.
Rest in peace and much love.
