Jan Fullmer Sorensen, our angel, mother, grandmother, and loving wife passed away on October 27, 2024 peacefully in her loving home surrounded by her family. After more than 2 years of battling cancer, all the treatments, surgeries, the ups and downs, she is no longer suffering and is free from the struggle.
Jan was born in the small town of Circleville, Utah, August 11th, 1956. She was the second of three children, her older brother Tom, and her younger brother Sam. Jan graduated from Piute High School class of 74’. Growing up her joys were 4 wheeling, tubing down the Sevier River, riding bikes, babysitting, hanging out with friends and dating. After graduation Jan moved to Bountiful and lived with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. During this time, she worked at the Dicks Market, loved to spend time going to church young adult activities and dances, whereupon, she met her “Mac Davis,” sweetie, Kim Sorensen. He was totally smitten with her beauty and her loving heart. Jan and Kim married May 6th, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With that union came their 3 children, Stacy, Scott (Ashley) and Sharee (Alfredo).
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her kids, and grandkids. That motherly love extended to all the neighborhood kids, where she was known as “mom” by everyone. Jan enjoyed being a homemaker, she loved to make special dishes like her famous banana bread. Many late nights were spent playing games, laughing and making memories. Any kind of game, card games, board games, phone games, she was intensely competitive! Especially when her cougars were playing! She loved the BYU sports teams, always looked forward to cheering them on, she’d say, “go Cougs!” And let out a cougar growl! When she could, she would spend time relaxing outdoors, fishing, bike riding with her kids, and going on walks. You would often find her just sitting outside soaking in the sun while watching the hummingbirds and nature. She was a bird whisperer, during the summer you will always find numerous hummingbirds all over her yard, and she even trained many pet parakeets how to talk over the years.
Jan’s grandchildren were her absolute very, very, favorite. Scott and Ashley blessed her with 4 wild and crazy boys! Jack, Hunter, Crue and Kayson, who is currently serving a church mission in Tacoma, Washington. Sharee and Alfredo blessed her with Daniella, Brookelynn, Angel (Josimi), Mily, Jesus (Keila). Great Grandchildren Itzamara, Luna, and Keziah.
As a lifelong member of the Church, Jan had a profound, unwavering, testimony. She found comfort and joy in reading scriptures daily. She served the lord in many callings, and as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. Her favorite was listening to The Music and Spoken Word.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Carol Fullmer, her daughter, Stacy and father-in-law, Lowell Sorensen. Survived by her husband, Kim, her brothers, Tom and Sam (Wendy), her mother-in-law, June Pendleton Sorensen, and her family.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all Jan's doctors, nurses, and therapist, at Intermountain Medical Center, the Intermountain Health Hospice care team and her physician and staff at Granger Medical. Their loving kindness, compassion, and support were truly remarkable.
