John was born on September 21, 1970, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. At a very young age, John had a big responsibility in taking care of his Little Sister Jennee and brothers, Chris and Cody. They would all form their own special and unique bond starting with Jennee, as always wanting to go to Sunday School with John and never wanting to leave his side. John and Chris were always fun together with their brotherly competition, and John being there for Cody by helping walk him to school and always taking care of him.
John met his wife Tammy in 1989. They fell head over heels for each other and their story began. They welcomed their son Dylan McKay on March 10th, 1994. They later married on July 2, 1998, in Las Vegas when Dylan was four. John was a devoted husband and father. He was a dedicated provider. His family was the most important thing in his life. He loved being a dad to Dylan and he was the pride and joy of his whole life!
An avid skier in his youth, he worked at Solitude Ski Resort during his late teens. He was also a skilled mechanic—capable of building a car and a truck from the ground up—and was known as a true jack-of-all-trades and an all-around handyman.
John had a deep passion for cooking. His famous turkeys and unforgettable stuffing and gravy were Thanksgiving staples. His unique twists on recipes made every dish a standout. Sunday Dinners were never to be missed during Football season.
He brought fun and laughter to every family vacation, and his blunt humor and quick wit became legendary—"classic John" stories that will continue to be told and cherished for years to come. He Loved his Oregon coast trips and even talked about packing up one day and living the rest of his life on the Pacific coast.
For over 20 years, John worked as a Pool Cover expert, where he was a dedicated employee and valued as a hard worker. He loved golfing, fishing, watching football, especially rooting for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He loved his whiskey and Natty Light. He also cherished playing video games such as Madden and NBA 2K with his brother Cody and son Dylan.
John was a son, a husband, a father, a brother and a best friend! He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
