November29, 1948-January 12, 2015
West Valley City - A beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Joseph Nephi Wood Jr. 66, passed away on Monday January 12, 2015 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City from complications of Lymphoma. Joe was born on November 29, 1948 in Ogden, UT and graduated from Bonneville High School. In 1973 he married Lou Ann Hackford in Tabiona, UT, they were later divorced. In 2005 he married Carol Coulam in West Valley City. Life with Carol whom he shared love, joy, family and laughter, every day was filled with special moments like feeding the duck’s in their back yard.
As a younger man, Joe loved the winter season serving on the Ski Patrol and his time on the slopes. During the other seasons he enjoyed spending time tinkering with hot rods and motorcycles. He was generous to his friends and family with time and money. He was always wanting to help and never waiting to be asked.
He touched the lives of every person he knew. He had a long career with Questar Gas and loved coaching softball. He enjoyed spending time in the Uinta’s, driving the Mirror Lake Highway, hiking Moab and snowmobiling wherever there was snow. He was intelligent, inquisitive, and had a great sense of humor. He had a knack and love for learning and fixing anything that was broken and making it better. Receiving a “Thank you Ma’am” or being called “Kiddo” from Joe has brought many smiles to us all and will forever be missed.
He is survived by his mother Benette, wife Carol, his children Jeremy, Kimberly (Jamey), Nicole (Lisa), step children Lonnie, Lance (Tosha), Lindsey and seven grandchildren, six siblings Christie (Lin) Batten, Stan Robinson, Becky Newton-Burnam, Rachael (Corby) Patrick, Barry (Raylene) Wood, Patrick (Kim) Wood.
