Kathleen (Kathy) Brown passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. She was 70 years old.
Born in Ogden, Utah to Oliver Brown and Leah Shannon Hale Brown, Kathy was the heart of a big and loving family. She grew up alongside her siblings Charlene “Charlie” (Robert), Thomas (Annie), Timothy (Gail), and Natalie Brown (John), as well as her stepsister Debra Jean Brown and half-brother James Shannon Wise.
Throughout her life, Kathy wore many hats—daughter, sister, mother, grandma, caregiver, and friend. She had a fiery spirit, a big heart, and a knack for finding joy even in the tough times. She raised her beloved son Robert James (Bobby) Brown in Colorado, and later added to her family with Lane Allen, Misty Dawn, and sweet Stephanie, who passed away at birth. Life brought her many twists and turns, and although
marriages came and went, Kathy’s love for her family only grew stronger with time.
She eventually settled in Wisconsin, where she lovingly cared for her mother until her passing. Afterward, she returned to Utah to be near her family and found love again with William “Willie/Bill” Boardman—her
soulmate and the love of her life. They remarried on December 23, 2022, and shared precious time together until her final days. Bill was her rock and her caretaker, showing her a deep, unwavering love that the entire family is endlessly grateful for.
Kathy was never afraid of hard work. She explored many jobs throughout her life until she found her calling as a CNA. Working with elderly and hospice patients brought her true fulfillment. She often said they taught her more about life than she ever expected. Caring for others wasn’t just her job, it was her passion.
Kathy was the proud grandmother of Jerrad (Brittany), Kendall (Heidi), Kyle (Bailey), Robert Jr., Chastity (Shilo), Tomi, and Lorraine (Zane). Her heart swelled even more with the arrival of 14 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She loved her growing family dearly, and when she learned she would be a great-grandma, she laughed and said, “I can’t believe it—but I’ve had all boys, now it’s time for you to give me girls.” And they did.
Kathy’s health challenges in recent years never overshadowed her fierce love for her family. Though she had a unique way of showing her emotions, there was never any doubt how deeply she cared—especially
for her children Robert, Lane, and Misty, her grandkids, and great-grandkids.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Bill for the devoted care he gave Kathy during her final months. His love, strength, and compassion were a gift to her and to everyone who loved her.
