Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend
Kristine “Kris” Putnam Holdaway was born on December 18, 1954, in Afton, Wyoming, to Mary and Erlon Putnam. She returned to her Heavenly Father on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Kris was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings throughout her life. Her two favorite roles were Activity Coordinator—lovingly known as the “party planner”—and Sports Coordinator. In both, her energy, kindness, and enthusiasm touched everyone she served alongside.
Kris had a lifelong love of sports. Whether she was playing or cheering on family and friends, she filled every game with joy and laughter. She especially loved turning up the volume on Footloose by Kenny Loggins—because for Kris, it truly was never loud enough!
She had a passion for traveling, camping, shoes, and playing games, but her happiest moments were those spent with her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and the love they shared.
While attending Cyprus High School, Kris served as secretary of the Four Flags Club, performed in the school play Fiddler on the Roof, and sang with the choir. Later in life, after starting a family, she proudly earned her Associate of Business degree from Salt Lake Community College—a milestone that brought her immense satisfaction and pride.
Kris will be remembered for her boundless energy, playful spirit, and ability to make every gathering a celebration. She brought warmth, laughter, and kindness wherever she went and left behind a legacy of love and joy that will never be forgotten.
Kris is survived by: her loving husband, Kyle C Holdaway, her children, Jason (Nichol) Holdaway, Carter (Ashley Barfield) Holdaway, and Kristi (Vince) Torres. Her legacy of faith, love, and compassion continues through her 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Her siblings are Marybeth (Randy) Pace, Charles “Chuck” (Chris) Putnam, Karla (Chris) Fillmore, Lynda (Scott) Tucker, Leron (Kimberly) Putnam, and Beverly (Dave Jones) Putnam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Erlon Putman; her brother, Charles “Chuck” (Chris) Putnam; Verl and Bonnie Holdaway; her nephew, David Christensen; and brother-in-law, Randy Pace; nephew, Austin Buchanan; niece, Tammy Keyes.
The family would like to thank all who have shown love and support during this time.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.”
